Life Course Centre The Life Course Centre is an Australian multi-university research centre established to reduce the transmission of intergenerational disadvantage.

The Life Course Centre (ARC Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course) is a centre established to advance research targeted at reducing the intergenerational transmission of disadvantage. The Life Course Centre is based in the Institute for Social Science Research at The University of Queensland and has nodes at the University of Western Australia, the University of Melbourne and the University of Sydney.

Gina Arena, Hayley Christian and Jacinta Francis from the Play Active program have had a thought-provoking couple of days at the International Life Course Conference in Brisbane. The Play Active program are proud partners with the Life Course Centre, with the aim of providing transformative research towards breaking the cycle of deep and persistent disadvantage in Australia.

The conference brought leading experts, researchers, policy makers, non-government organisations, and community stakeholders to explore new ideas and partnership to tackle social disadvantage in Australia.

One of Hayley's key takeaways is that the challenges of delivering early years initiatives to tackle social disadvantage at scale, across Australia are large, but so are the potential opportunities and benefits.
