Early mornings, countless hours on the water and plenty of determination paid off for our 25 rowers at the ICC Regatta. After two months of dedicated training, Duchesne finished in a tie for 3rd place overall alongside Women’s College! 🥉

This result reflects the commitment, resilience and teamwork our girls brought to every training session and race throughout the season.

We are incredibly proud of all our rowers and everything they achieved. 🚣‍♀️💙

A huge thank you to the team at UQBC, our rowing convenors, and everyone who lined the bank in blue to cheer the girls on. Your support made all the difference. 🌟💙

Wise Women come home to Duchesne.

On Saturday 23 May 2026, we welcomed generations of Duchesne alumni back to the College for an evening of reconnection and community.
From reminiscing about College days to enjoying long awaited catch ups, our alumni picked up right where they left off. A tour of the College gave guests the opportunity to relive memories, see how the College has evolved and hear more about the continued growth of our community.

It was wonderful to see generations of Duchesne Wise Women come together and reconnect.

Today, Monday 25 May 2026, we celebrate the Feast Day of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat. Today, Sunday 24 May 2026, we celebrate Gladys Lee DC’47 and the extraordinary occasion of her 100th birthday.

One of the very first residents of Duchesne College Oakleigh in New Farm, Gladys arrived at the College in 1947 to study a Bachelor of Arts at The University of Queensland. She later became the very first female apprentice pharmacist at Mater Hospital, paving the way for women in the profession.

To celebrate Gladys’s 100th birthday, students Tahlia DC’25 and Gabi DC’25 wore two of Gladys’s original ball gowns, generously donated to the College.
Decades later, these beautiful gowns continue to connect generations of Duchesne women and reflect the enduring friendship, spirit, and history of our community.

Happy 100th birthday, Gladys. Your story continues to inspire generations of Duchesne women.

Reflecting on our Celebration of Wise Women ✨💐

These heartfelt words from our girls are a reminder that the love, wisdom and support of mothers and mothers figures deserves to be recognised far beyond a single day in the calendar 🩵

To the wise women who uplift, inspire and care so selflessly, we celebrate you, always.🌷🥰

Last Thursday 14 May 2026, we held our second Wise Woman Dinner, themed AI & Tech Disruptions: Learning from the Sacred Heart Tradition.

We were delighted to hear from:
• Dr Sabine Matook, Professor in Business Information Systems at the UQ Business School, The University of Queensland
• Dr Leah Henrickson, Senior Lecturer in Digital Media & Cultures at the University of Queensland
• Noni Harrison, Teacher Librarian and Head of Library, St Rita’s College

We were grateful to share the evening with Professor Deborah Terry AC, Vice-Chancellor and President of The University of Queensland, and guests from our Sacred Heart network, especially staff and students from Stuartholme School, Loreto College Coorparoo and Lourdes Hill College.

Moderated by Lucy Matthews DC’25, our panellists reminded us that true disruption is not about moving faster, but about leading with integrity, curiosity, and confidence in your own voice.

Just as the Society of the Sacred Heart stepped boldly into new spaces, young women today have the opportunity to shape AI on their own terms, not by outsourcing their thinking, but by leading with discernment, critical thinking, and purpose.
