Manuia te Aso o te Tutokotasi, Tuvalu 🇹🇻

Today we celebrate 48 years since Tuvalu gained independence in 1978.

Its low-lying atolls face king tides, rising seas and coastal erosion, but the climate crisis doesn't define this nation. The people of Tuvalu are resilient, and their culture and community are strong often leading global climate negotiations on climate and ocean conservation.

Tuvalu is also known for its airport runway, which turns into a soccer and rugby field.

Wishing all our Tuvaluan kāiga a happy Independence Day! 🌊

Happy Independence Day, Palau! 🇵🇼

Today, the beautiful island nation of Palau (also known as Belau) is commemorating 32 years of independence. This year, the people hosted the Pacific Islands Forum, welcoming leaders from across the region to talk about climate action, regional security and geopolitics as well as economic development and connectivity.

Rising seas and coastal erosion threaten its home, yet Palau keeps pushing for bold climate action, a protected ocean, and a future where Pacific voices lead the conversation. 🌊

Wishing all our Palauan Family, a happy and safe Independence Day 🇵🇼

Alii, Belau! 💙💛
