Is Christmas a difficult time for you? Maybe you struggle with feeling joyful when this time of year stirs up grief or pain.

Join us at St Andrew’s Cathedral for a service of lament for those for whom Christmas is a tough time of year, due to grief, loss, stress, or other challenges.

Rev. Dr Keith Condie, Co-Director of our Mental Health Institute, will be speaking words of comfort and hope in his sermon, and the service will provide a space to acknowledge pain, loss and disappointment, offer it to God, and find light amidst darkness.

Inside, you’ll find:
An overview of key things to understand about perinatal mental health 🔑
Thinking about perinatal mental health medically and psychologically 🧠
How churches can offer care and support to parents in this stage of life 🫶🏽

If you think OCD is simply being “a bit OTT” about things, then you wouldn’t be alone. But it’s a complex mental health condition that covers a broad range of symptoms. As Christians, we believe it’s important to learn more so that we can care for those living with OCD with empathy and compassion. We’re sharing some things you might not know about OCD, and we think you’ll find them really interesting and helpful.

Pop over to the ADM page to read them - Anglican Deaconess Ministries and please join us for our Spotlight Session on OCD next month. You can register here https://events.humanitix.com/mental-health-and-pastoral-care-institute-spotlight-session-ocd?c=mhpciscocials

“I spend 45 minutes in the car before school pickup, doing my rituals so the other parents don’t see."

You got this text in the middle of morning chaos, and you were floored. Your wonderful friend, the one organising all the social events, the most pastoral and wonderful person, has been hiding her experience with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

You start to reply and...

you have no idea what to say.

This October, we’re shining the Spotlight on OCD. Dr. Amy Talbot join us to explore:
🔸 the realities of living with OCD, separating myths from evidence-based facts
🔸 how OCD can show up in faith communities
🔸 the ways church environments and practices can sometimes hinder recovery and
🔸 practical steps churches can take to create safe, informed spaces for those affected.

You can attend in person at ADM’s offices in Sydney, online from the comfort of your home (or church!) or get a copy of the recording to watch at your convenience.
