Little Sister Big Sister - LSBS A student-led initiative that fosters the networking, support and advancement of First Nations women at UNSW.

Little Sister Big Sister (LSBS) society is a student-led initiative that fosters the networking, support and advancement of strong First Nations women at UNSW. Its strategy is to provide an informal mentoring program, an accessible platform to share achievements, scholarship opportunities, job opportunities and extra curricular activities whilst also engaging in cultural and social events througho

ut the year. We aim to also train our girls to eventually provide cultural, cross-cultural and diversity training to organisations and corporate company’s in the future. Our vision is to empower and unite Indigenous women within our university society, creating a vibrant and inclusive community that embraces our diverse cultures, knowledge, and lived experiences. Our goals are to increase Indigenous representation in tertiary education across all faculty sectors and to contribute to the increase of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women successfully graduating from university.

January 26 is not a date to celebrate in “Australia”.

It is an inappropriate day to hold national celebrations. It is a day of mourning, marking the beginning of the dispossession of land, violence, massacres, genocide and survival for First Nations people.

We stand with our Brothers, Sisters, Uncles and Aunts on January 26. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land. [-O-]
