This workshop will offer fresh ideas, and you’ll also gain practical strategies for:
• Place-based storytelling
• Site-specific performance
• Using documentary materials in class

📚 Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences staff and alumni are heading to this year’s Sydney Writers' Festival — and HSC students are invited too.

Featuring bestselling author and Professor of Practice (Creative Writing) Anna Funder (Stasiland, All That I Am, Wifedom), Emerita Professor Raewyn Connell (Trans Lives, Masculinities, Southern Theory), and Associate Professor Huw Griffiths, presenting Spotlight on Studying Shakespeare, a special session for Year 11 and 12 students.

Part of Student Sessions at Carriageworks on 20 May, the program is built around the Stage 6 NSW English syllabus and presented in partnership with NESA.

Big news: award-winning author Anna Funder has officially joined us today as Professor of Practice in Creative Writing. 🎉

Professor Funder is one of Australia's most celebrated writers, known for her fearless creative writing and her belief in storytelling as a public and civic act. In her new role at the School of Art, Communication and English, she'll be representing the University at major events here and abroad and will also be working on a new creative project of her own.
