🩸 30 minutes of your time can make a life-changing difference. 💙

At Dunmore Lang College, our students recently rolled up their sleeves to give back to the community through a two-day Blood Drive organised by our Charity Committee! 🙌

Across the initiative, 23 students donated blood, travelling to Chatswood, visiting the university’s mobile donor centre, or making their own appointments at a donation centre. 🩸

Every donation matters. A single blood donation can help save up to six lives, making a small investment of time a meaningful contribution to others in our community. ❤️

Beyond the numbers, the Blood Drive highlighted the power of collective action and the willingness of our students to step up and make a difference. ✨

A special thank you to Zoe and Phoebe from our Charity Committee for organising and supporting this wonderful initiative, and to every student who took part! 👏💙 We’re so proud to see the DLC community continuing to live out the spirit of giving back.

Being a leader at DLC is about so much more than the role itself — it’s an opportunity to build new skills, support others, give back and get involved in experiences that make a real difference. ✨

With 2027 RA applications recently closing and ADS applications opening, it’s a great time to see just some of the opportunities our student leaders get stuck into throughout the year! 🙌

On Wednesday 5th August 2026, Madison (current DLC first-year) and Ayva (DLC alumna) attended the Broken Hill Careers Expo, alongside the Macquarie University Outreach team, to encourage prospective rural students to consider Macquarie University and Dunmore Lang College as their next career move post-exams. 🎓💙🏡

“Getting to come back and represent DLC in my hometown was such a heart warming experience. 💙 I felt so proud to be able to share my incredible experience at DLC with some of Broken Hill’s young people who are in the exact same position as I was a few years ago. I saw people’s faces light up when they realised how achievable and accessible living and studying in Sydney can be with the help of DLC! ✨ Showing the students photos of our events, spaces and my lifelong friends from Dunmore Lang College felt like a full circle moment.” 🏡📸

— Ayva O'Meara, recipient of the MQ/DLC Rural and Regional Scholarship from 2022–2025, and resident of Broken Hill.

“Being able to return to my hometown to represent DLC in my first year at this expo felt like such a full circle moment. 💫 I loved being able to educate students on the scholarships that are available to them and to reconnect with the people that made it possible to be where I am today. 🎓 Being able to see students excited at the possibility of coming to DLC was very enjoyable and to have the opportunity to support my local community, particularly my Indigenous peers, is something that I will always be grateful for and hope to do again in the future.” 💙🌟

— Madison Rae, Macquarie Advantage Scholarship Student, current resident of DLC, Indigenous and first in family to attend University.
