The University of Technology Sydney is proud to host the 2012 SMAANZ conference, which is being staged by the Sport Management team within the Management Discipline Group, UTS Business School. This three day event focuses on the dual themes of “innovation and engagement”, with sport management researchers and industry practitioners encouraged to think creatively in order to enhance the professiona
l and community sport sectors. Day 1 of the conference, "Sport Industry Engagement", features a keynote address by Professor George Foster of Stanford University, a world leader in the study of sport entrepreneurship, business and economic challenges in the sport marketplace. Day 1 also focuses on debates about key issues in Australian and New Zealand sport, with leading figures from the sport industry and renowned public commentators engaged in robust discussion. Day 1 concludes with a cocktail reception welcoming delegates to SMAANZ. Days 2 and 3 of the conference, "Sport Innovation", features the dedicated academic program, with research presentations, collaborative panel sessions or workshops. The conference will be staged at the UTS Business School, corner of Quay Street & Ultimo Road, Haymarket, in Sydney’s CBD, which is very near Central Railway Station, Chinatown & Darling Harbour. With many cafes, restaurants and a variety of accommodation facilities within walking distance, Haymarket is ideally located for a conference. Day 3 concludes with the SMAANZ 2012 conference dinner, which will be held aboard the MV Sydney 2000, 7.30pm-11.00pm. The vessel will sail Sydney Harbour and guests will enjoy a three course meal and beverages. We hope you will join us for what promises to be three days of stimulating debate, discussion and networking opportunities.
