Alice began her dressage career in 1999 after winning the British Dressage National Talent Spotting. During her 7 year stint as part of the British Dressage Under 21's National Squad, Alice had the opportunity to train with many of Britainโ€™s top trainers, such as Gareth Hughes, and was selected to represent Great Britain on several occasions including competing in Holland, Ireland, England and Northern Ireland. After finishing high school, Alice began working as a rider for the world-renowned Woodlander Stud where she gained invaluable experience in handling youngstock, backing, starting and producing young Dressage horses to the highest standards. Alice left Woodlander Stud with a 3 year old Hanoverian mare of her own and began studying her Equine Science BSc degree at Hartpury College (University of the West of England) where she was selected for the Elite Squad on their Sports Academy; receiving training from Olympic Gold Medallist, Carl Hester. Upon completing her degree in 2010, Alice began working for a Rehabilitation and Dressage Centre in Oxfordshire where she became Head Rider and Manager. During her 8.5 years in Oxford, Alice produced PRE stallions from 3 year-olds to training Grand Prix level under the guidance of four-time British Olympian, Richard Davison, Diane Thurman-Baker & Victor Alvarez. Alice enjoyed National and International success at FEI Small Tour, representing first GB and then later Ireland. Alice accumulated numerous medals & placings at National Championships, MCI Europeans, ANCEE Championships & CDIs; including in Spain, Ireland, Belgium, Italy, France and England. Before her big move to Australia in April 2019, Alice was selected for the Horse Sport Ireland High Performance Olympic Pathway Squad 2018/19.

Alice spent a year working as the Dressage Rider & Coach for Sutton Farm Equestrian Centre in the Southern Highlands of NSW; where she trained and competed a variety of horses and ponies, including the talented Bluefields Berlin. During her time in NSW she qualified as an EA G Level Judge going on to judge a number of competitions in the area. Under the exceptional tuition of one of Australiaโ€™s leading International Grand Prix riders, Brett Parbery, Alice and Berlin were selected as the Advanced partnership for the Dorothee Schneider Masterclass at Willinga Parkโ€™s CDI4* โ€” โ€œDressage by the Seaโ€ in February 2020. COVID-19 promptly forced a unplanned move to Central QLD, where Alice lives with her partner and former Australian International Grand Prix rider, Anthony Pelling. Since relocating in March 2020, Alice has built a significant client base in Central QLD and the surrounds; giving regular lessons in the area and further afield for clinics. Alice is now training with QLD's top rider, Emma Flavelle-Watts, with her own self-produced WB and is based near Maryborough with her partner & former Australian Grand Prix rider, Anthony Pelling. Together they purchased a 20 acre equestrian property at the end of 2024 and are currently working hard to install more facilities. Alice takes a select number of horses for training & sales and teaches throughout the week from her base in between travelling for clinics and competitions.

Deseado CCV โค๏ธ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

(Desy - Des - Demond - Mond - Mondy - Mondy Moon Pie)

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of without doubt my horse of a lifetime thus far. From 3 yr old breaker to representing our country across Europe at Small Tour and gearing up for Grand Prix as part of the Horse Sport Ireland Performance Squad, we enjoyed 8 and a half years together through thick and thin and experienced a journey far beyond any expectations.

We had an amazing bond like Iโ€™ve never experienced with any other horse. He was the constant throughout my twenties and opened doors I didnโ€™t even know existed.

He was the most charismatic horse I have met โ€” always happy, curious and cheeky with a heart of gold and the courage of a lion. And he really did have the most exceptional ears. He taught me a huge amount, not just in developing a horse to top level but also diving into a whole new world and appreciation of โ€˜The Spanish Horseโ€™.

There are so many highlights of my career so far spent with this horse and infinite cherished memories โ€” not just in the competition arena but our mutual love for hacking, cantering around the fields, sneaking into a freshly cut paddock for โ€˜Spanish horse racesโ€™, taking him around the gallops with the racehorses and hanging on for dear life as he fly-bucked his way around, exploring the woods on 3 hour rides and snacking on hedgerows.

Although never stalliony, he was a bit of a handful as a young horse and rarely competitive, but through learning things the hard way, patience and dedication he came into his own as a 6 year old and then our lives changed forever. With the support of great coaches such as Richard Davison, Diane Thurman-Baker and Victor Alvarez and the team behind him at Premier PRE Dressage, we had an absolute ball competing in places I would only have dreamt of โ€” Barcelona CDI, Madrid CDI, the PRE World Dressage Championships in Seville (SICAB), MCI European Championships in Belgium, Hartpury CDI, Keysoe CDI, numerous CDNs, National Championships and champion/reserve titles for British Dressage, Dressage Ireland and GBPRE, competing against the likes of Charlotte Dujardin in the Young Horse PSG at Hartpury Festival of Dressage (and getting through to the final for 7th in a field of amazing warmbloods and riders!!), gaining a spot at the invitational Freestyle to music at Royal Windsor, and our final competition together at the MCI European Championships held in England, where we rode our socks off in the Freestyle to gain a 72% and a silver medal ๐Ÿฅˆ in the Small Tour final.

Without Des I would not have the opportunities I had, I would not have made it to the final at SICAB, I would not have been in the prize-giving next to Anthony Pelling in 2014 and would not have found myself 12 years later living in Australia, carving out our own business and lives together. He was the hardest part of leaving my job in England and I will never stop missing him.

Thank you, Des, for being the best horse I could have hoped for โ€” I am so grateful for our journey together โ€” we sure had a lot of fun along the way. He was one in a million and there will never be another Desy.

This compilation of clips barely scratches the surface of our time together โ€” but it shows a glimpse of the fun we had.

Until we meet again my friend โ€” wishing you unlimited polos, likits and luscious green grass โ€” rest easy big fella ๐Ÿ’”

First comp in 10 months and it feels good to be back โœจ

Had an excellent weekend at Maryborough Active Riders Club Inc Fraser Coast Star Championships piloting Karen Spencerโ€™s (rising) 4 year old part-Andalusian gelding, Halford BMD, around his very first Prelims for 3 x wins, a third and 2 x Prelim Champion titles in amongst a large field. A great achievement for the young man and a lovely way to close his two-month training stint with me.

He was an absolute superstar from beginning to end โ€” easily the best behaved and most relaxed baby I have had the pleasure of working with. Always willing and curious and even when he had nothing left in the tank he put his best foot forward for the last centreline, notching up consistent scores of 2 x 68+%, a 71+% and a 69+% to top a class of 17 starters! He has certainly earned his holiday โœจ Thank you to the Prelim Class sponsors: Black Diamond Park Equine Vet Clinic, Homestead Jewellery and Clark Rubber.

Huge thanks to Halfordโ€™s wonderful owners for making it such an enjoyable experience โ€” it was a real luxury to be relieved from plaiting and prep duty. And thank you for the lovely flowers and gifts โ€” it is never expected but, speaking on behalf of all riders and coaches, it means so much to feel appreciated for the work we do ๐Ÿ’ž

Fantastic to see so many of my students competing, enjoying their rides and kicking goals from Prep to Medium โ€” well done, super proud of you all ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

A massive thank-you to the MARC team, everyone behind the scenes, the judges, stewards, sponsors and competitors for running another great championship. Looking forward to the next one! We always enjoy a brilliant show here โ€” but after claiming Medium Champion and topping his first Advanced start last year, Buddy was more than happy to be sitting this one out โ€” munching his hay and rolling in the mud. Hopefully I will have one or two of my own in tow next year ๐Ÿคž

Lastly a heartfelt thank you to the longterm support of Cantaloup.com.au โ€” always proud to wear such beautiful stocks!

And big thanks to the support of Saddleworld Bundaberg โ€” the sponsored prizes were a lovely surprise touch!

Of course I enjoyed a celebratory Champagne (+ fish + chips!). Hoping it wonโ€™t be another 10 months between comps this time ๐Ÿ˜…

I am back at MARC for a clinic on Sunday 30th August: entries on nominate and places are filling up fast. Look forward to seeing you there โœจ
