On Monday night, the Adelaide College of Divinity hosted the 2020 Graduation Celebration.
It was a wonderful night acknowledging the academic achievements of our students. Students from around Australia were recognised for the immense time and and energy they have invested into academic exploration.
ACD seeks to equip students for effective and reflective ministry, and it was a joy to watch this moment in their lifelong journeys of learning and leadership.
We were honoured to have the Rev. Dr Denise Champion accept the Doctor of Divinity Award (Honoris Causa). It was a pivotal moment for ACD as a higher education provider, as we formally and publicly recognised the value and integrity of First Nations scholarship and research. Her contributions and achievements were summarised in a beautiful tribute by Rev. Professor Andrew Dutney, Principal of Uniting College.
We acknowledged the incredible achievements of Rev Dr Sean Gilbert (Lecturer in Ministry Studies) and Dr David Turnbull, who both received a Vice-Chancellor's Award for Doctoral Thesis Excellence from Flinders University.
The night was also made special courtesy of a moving and powerful address from Vice-Principal, Rev. Dr Christy Capper on 'Bringing Ourselves to Life' - based on her doctoral thesis. Her address looked at the cultural and biblical imperative to acknowledge and embrace diverse voices and experiences, as an outflow of God's creativity and love.
We thank everyone who contributed to making the night a memorable time for graduates and their guests. We look forward to sharing high definition photos in the coming days.
