Meet Marcus, a student at Melbourne School of Theology who works part-time in ministry.

Marcus shares how studying at MST has strengthened his preparation for ministry, challenged his thinking through a diverse community, and deepened his understanding of biblical theology. Flexible online study has also enabled him to balance work, parenthood and ministry alongside his studies.

This morning’s Chapel was led by students from MST and Eastern College.

It was wonderful to welcome our Eastern students back after completing their placements and to gather once again as one community for worship, prayer and fellowship.

We were also encouraged and inspired by MST student Joel Leak, who shared God’s Word with us today. We’re grateful for the gifts, faith and leadership of our students and for the meaningful ways they contribute to our community.

Today’s Chapel looked a little different, with our Eastern students and staff completing placements, but it was still a wonderful opportunity for the MST community to gather for worship, prayer and fellowship.

We also took a special moment to honour Damien Knuckey and thank him for his remarkable 13 years of faithful service in the IT Department.

Damien, thank you for the expertise, care and dedication you have generously shared with our community over so many years. We are deeply grateful for all you have contributed and pray God’s blessing over you as you begin this next chapter.

We also heard a wonderful message from Dr Gillian Asquith, Academic Dean and Lecturer at MST.

Each week, Chapel gives our MST and Eastern community a precious opportunity to pause from the rhythms of study and work, to worship together, hear from God’s Word, pray for one another and share in fellowship.

This morning, Dr Mark Durie reflected on Psalm 84, a psalm of pilgrimage for those who long for the presence of God. We were reminded that the journey is not always easy. At times, we may feel spiritually weary, as though we are walking through a dry and difficult place but we do not have to continue in our own strength.

As we set our hearts on God, lean into Him and keep moving forward, He meets us with refreshment and leads us from strength to strength.
“Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.” — Psalm 84:5

We’re grateful for these weekly moments of worship, prayer and fellowship that continue to form and strengthen us as a community. 🙏

The centre of global Christianity has shifted. So what does this mean for the way we think about theology, mission and church leadership today?

Hear from Dr Jonathan D. James, keynote speaker for the Leonard Buck Lecture 2026, as he explores the theme 'The Asianisation of Christianity: New Models for Mission.'

This morning at Chapel, our community gathered for such a special time of worship, fellowship and morning tea.

We were honoured to welcome Petr Jašek from The Voice of the Martyrs as our guest speaker. His powerful message was both challenging and deeply inspiring, encouraging us to remember those who are persecuted for their faith and to use our own voices to stand with others.

“We can be the voice of the voiceless people.”
