🌿 What a wonderful day of community connection at the Growers and Makers Market!

We’re proud of the students, staff and volunteers who helped bring the market to life and grateful to everyone in the community who joined us on the weekend.

It was lovely to see families, students, staff and community members come together to enjoy a day celebrating local talent, creativity and connection.

With 33 stalls offering something special to discover and live music from our talented students and staff, the market was a wonderful showcase of our vibrant community.

🎁 Congratulations to our lucky local raffle winner, who took home a hamper filled with generous donations from stallholders and a gourmet package.

A special thank you to our 22 staff and student volunteers who helped on the day, and to everyone who contributed their time, talents and enthusiasm behind the scenes.

💚 Thank you to the stallholders, visitors, volunteers and the wider community for being part of the day.

🤝 Celebrating the power of partnership!

Community College Gippsland (CCG) is proud to have been recognised in the Learn Local Partnership Award category at the 2026 Learn Local Awards for the collaborative work behind our Here to Care program.

Developed in response to growing workforce demands across Gippsland’s care sector, Here to Care brings together education, employment, home care, and migrant settlement services to support people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities to gain new skills and access meaningful employment opportunities.

This innovative partnership unites CCG, Latrobe Community Health Services (LCHS) In Home Care, the LCHS Migrant Settlement Program, Employment Facilitator Gippsland, and TAFE Gippsland, demonstrating the power of collaboration in creating pathways to learning and employment while helping address regional workforce challenges.

This recognition reflects the shared commitment of our partner organisations to making a positive difference in people’s lives and strengthening communities across Gippsland.

🌟 Celebrating Nah’s inspiring learning journey!🎉

We were honoured to celebrate Pornpimon Pansanga (Nah), who was nominated for the Learn Local Pre-Accredited Learner (Skills for Work) Award at the 2026 Learn Local Awards.

Originally from Thailand, Nah arrived in Australia carrying the hopes of creating a safe and brighter future for her two young children. As a single mother, she faced the challenges of settling into a new country, navigating an unfamiliar language, and adapting to a different culture, all while raising her family and building a new life.

With determination and a commitment to building a safe and better future for her young children, she took part in Here to Care, a home-care workforce pathway program delivered through a partnership between CCG and Latrobe Community Health Services (LCHS).

Despite the language, cultural and personal challenges, Nah embraced every learning opportunity, successfully completed her pre-accredited training and secured employment with LCHS. Her achievement reflects her perseverance and demonstrates how education, training and strong community partnerships can open doors to meaningful employment and new opportunities.

One of the most touching moments of the evening was seeing Nah celebrate this milestone alongside her two children. Their pride in their mum was unmistakable and a beautiful reflection of how her hard work and perseverance are helping create new possibilities for her family. ❤️

Congratulations, Nah! Your story is one of strength, resilience, and hope. Your journey shows what can be achieved when determination meets opportunity, and we are incredibly proud of all you have accomplished.

Each year, our groundbreaking Cadet Director Observer Program opens a 12-month opportunity for two aspiring directors to develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed to take the next step towards becoming a Board Director.

We’re looking for people who bring passion, fresh perspectives and a commitment to making a difference. Knowledge and/or experience in the following areas will be viewed favourably:

Secondary or adult education and training | Business |Community advocacy | Philanthropy

We particularly encourage people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with experience of disability, and those who have worked with young people to improve their circumstances to apply.

Congratulations to Nat on successfully completing her Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award! 👏

Over three months, Natalia Van Der Veer set herself goals, challenged herself and showed plenty of commitment, perseverance and growth while completing her Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. 👏

💚 13 hrs volunteering: supporting mental health initiatives at school
🚶 13 hrs physical recreation: walking three times a week
🍰 13 hrs skills: building her baking and cooking skills
🥾 3-day adventurous journey: taking on a challenging hike
🌟 From learning new skills to stepping outside her comfort zone, Nat has plenty to be proud of!

💛Hope you’ve had a meaningful R U OK? Day.
We’re seeing lots of yellow across CCG today! 💛

As part of R U OK? Day, our CEO Dale Gemmell recently sat down with some of our students at the Leongatha campus for an open and honest conversation about mental health and some of the challenges he has experienced throughout his life.

Dale shared reflections on difficult periods, what helped him move through them, and the importance of speaking openly and seeking support when needed.

Our students asked thoughtful questions, creating a genuine conversation and an important reminder that mental health challenges can affect anyone, including those in leadership.

We appreciate Dale’s willingness to share his experiences and help create space for conversations that matter.🌟

And while today is about asking “R U OK?”, looking out for each other is something we can do every day. 💛

A big thank you to our staff for getting into the spirit of the day and adding plenty of yellow to our campuses! 🌼💛
