National Reconciliation Week is a time to reflect, listen, and continue building relationships grounded in truth, respect, and understanding.

At First Nations Incursions, we believe reconciliation is more than celebration. It's also about creating spaces where difficult conversations can happen, where racism can be challenged, and where every child, family, and educator feels safe, valued, and heard.

Over the years, we've worked with schools, early learning services, councils, libraries, and communities to share Aboriginal culture through storytelling, music, dance, art, and connection. But we know many educators are looking for support to move beyond awareness and into meaningful action.

That's why we're excited to begin sharing a new initiative we've been developing:

🌿 Many Voices on Country

An Aboriginal-led anti-racism professional learning program for educators, schools, early learning services, and community organisations.

The program includes:
✔ Professional learning sessions
✔ Practical anti-racism strategies and tools
✔ Culturally informed resources
✔ Ongoing support from an Indigenous teacher mentor
Sessions will commence in Broadmeadows and Dandenong from late July, with regional programs to follow.

Meaningful change happens through listening, learning, reflection, and relationships.

Because reconciliation is not a one-week conversation. It's something we build together, every day.

Little steps lead to big journeys. 👣✨

This National Reconciliation Week, the theme is . For our schools and early learning centres, being 'All In' means giving children the chance to hear, feel, and experience the rich textures of First Nations cultures firsthand.

Through interactive music, rhythm, and age-appropriate storytelling, we help educators bring these vital concepts to life in a way that stays with children long after the day ends.

True reconciliation grows from seeds planted early. Let's cultivate that understanding together. 🌿

Waring (Wombat Season) - Didgeridoo Dreaming

Waring, the Wombat season, is marked by the cold weather with increased rainfall, long nights and, later in the season, misty mornings.
Wombats emerge from their burrows to bask in the sun and to forage during the day while much of country rests.

In our ELC Waring season experience, children listen to and share didgeridoo story sessions, reflecting the stillness and slowing-down of this season. Waring is a season for slowing down, keeping warm, and listening deeply.

In this gentle program, children are invited to lie quietly, as if curled up in winter, and listen to the sounds of animals outside. The didgeridoo player brings these creatures to life, making animal calls through the instrument, creating a living soundscape of Country in Waring. Towards the end the children are invited to describe what they heard, saw and  experienced while huddled in the ‘forest’.

Through stillness, breathing, and story, children experience the hush of winter air and the importance of rest and reflection in nature’s cycle. This mindful session helps little ones connect with the land and discover how First Nations seasonal knowledge guides us to live in harmony with Country.
