The Deakin University Islamic Society (DUIS) is a student initiative that represents & caters for the needs of our Deakin Muslims at the Waurn Ponds and Waterfront campuses.

Alhumdulillah, (DUIS) was honoured to be invited to the Islamic Council of Victoria (ICV) Annual Dinner 2026.🌙

It was a wonderful evening of unity, meaningful connections, and celebrating the strength of our Muslim community.

A heartfelt thank you to ICV for the warm invitation and hospitality. May Allah continue to bless and strengthen our community. 🤲

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

The Deakin University Islamic Society Geelong is holding its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM), where we will reflect on the past year and elect our new committee for 2026/27.

This is a great opportunity for members who would like to become more involved with DUIS, contribute to the Muslim community at Deakin, develop leadership experience, and help shape the society for the year ahead.

Muharram reminds us of gratitude, patience, and sacrifice.

“O Allah, as we enter this new Hijri year, help us grow closer to You in faith, knowledge, and good deeds.

O Allah, guide us to what is true and right, and give us the strength to follow it. Keep us away from what is wrong and harmful.

Increase us in beneficial knowledge, help us understand Islam better, and allow us to continue seeking the truth with sincerity and humility.

Keep our hearts firm upon the Qur’an and the Sunnah, unite the Muslim Ummah upon goodness and guidance, and make this year a year of peace, blessings, mercy, and success for us all.”

Assalamu Alikum everyone,

As we enter the blessed days of Dhul Hijjah, we should remind ourselves that these are some of the most beloved days to Allah.

These words are easy on the tongue, but very heavy in reward. We can say them while walking, driving, sitting, working, or resting.
“Let us use these days wisely. Let us fast if we can, especially on the Day of Arafah. Let us give charity, make dua, pray on time, seek forgiveness“

Our community here at university is beautifully diverse. People from different cultures, faiths, and backgrounds come together, and that diversity is something we truly value and appreciate. Eid is a reminder that while we may be different, we are united through shared values of kindness, respect, and humanity.“

“Thank you all for coming to DUIS Iftar this evening. Gatherings like this strengthen our bonds, bring our hearts closer, and remind us of the importance of supporting one another. We hope to see you at many more of our upcoming events. Stay connected with DUIS and join us at future gatherings, programs, and events.

The Prophet Muhammad said:

“The best among you are those who have the best manners and character.”

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“The one who does good to you, respond with goodness; and the one who harms you, pardon him.”

“The most beloved people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to people.”

َاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ ٱللَّهِ جَمِيعًۭا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا۟

“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided”

Surah Aal-Imran (Ayat 103)

Rasool Allah ﷺ said:

“O people, your Lord is One and your father is one. There is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab over an Arab neither of a white over a black nor a black over a white except by piety.”
