πŸ”¬ Advancing the future of cancer treatment

A team of researchers from UOW's Centre for Medical Radiation Physics has received $1.26 million in funding to further develop Lantern, a pioneering cancer imaging technology that could significantly improve the way tumours are visualised during radiotherapy treatment.

The funding will support the next stage of development and help move the technology closer to clinical trials. By delivering clearer images while reducing imaging radiation doses, Lantern has the potential to improve outcomes for patients and support more precise, personalised cancer care.

🚩 What a fantastic weekend at the PECAN+ Cyber Security Challenge at UOW!

It was great to welcome high school students from across the region and beyond to learn, compete and connect through cybersecurity.

πŸ† A huge congratulations to our UOW/NSW Advanced team, who climbed from 12th nationally last year to an incredible 4th place this year!

We were also excited to welcome Australian Army and Navy cadets for the first time, alongside students, teachers, mentors and families who travelled from near and far to take part.

A big thank you to Edith Cowan University, ASD, Sekuro, Longchass, our staff, student mentors and everyone who helped make the event such a success.

The future of cybersecurity is in great hands. πŸš€

Are you an Indigenous UOW student studying a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) related undergraduate or postgraduate degree in 2026?

The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) would like to support engagement with the sciences amongst Indigenous Australians by supporting UOW Indigenous undergraduate students.

This scholarship is also an opportunity to engage with the CSIRO and build a relationship and pathway into a career in the Sciences. The successful recipients may also be considered for a graduate position with the CSIRO and work opportunities at a CSIRO facility, which would be arranged directly with the donor and outside of the scholarship.
