We are delighted to celebrate Avijit Mondal, a proud alumnus of the Master of Population, Reproductive Health, Gender and Development (MPRHGD) Program (Graduation Batch: 2024), Department of Social Relations, East West University.

Avijit will soon embark on a new academic journey in Ireland, pursuing a Master of Science in Business Analytics for Decision Makers at the National College of Ireland, Dublin. 🇮🇪📊

We are proud to feature Dr. Mohammad Munir Mosharraf Khan, an accomplished alumnus of the Master of Population, Reproductive Health, Gender and Development (MPRHGD) Program, Department of Social Relations, East West University.

Currently serving as Deputy Director – Administration at Aalok Healthcare & Hospital Ltd. and Scientific Secretary of the Bangladesh Society of Emergency Medicine (BSEM), Dr. Khan continues to contribute to the healthcare sector through his professional expertise and leadership.

His journey reflects the impact of education, dedication, and a commitment to advancing health and social well-being.

As part of GEN7226: Emergence of Bangladesh, the Department of Social Relations, East West University, organized an academic study tour to Sonargaon, exploring the Bangladesh Folk Arts and Crafts Foundation and the historic Panam Nagar with 70 students.

From traditional crafts and folk culture to historic architecture and heritage conservation, the tour offered students a meaningful opportunity to experience Bangladesh’s rich history and culture firsthand.

The Department of Social Relations has successfully organized a seminar on “Heat, Health, and Climate Resilience in Bangladesh”, offering our undergraduate students of Population and Public Health Sciences (PPHS) valuable insights into the growing impacts of extreme heat on health, livelihoods, and the economy.

The session featured Wameq Azfar Raza, PhD, Senior Health Economist, The World Bank Bangladesh, who presented key findings from the World Bank Group report “An Unsustainable Life: The Impact of Heat on Health and the Economy of Bangladesh” and discussed evidence-based policy recommendations for building a more heat-resilient Bangladesh.

The seminar provided an engaging platform for students to connect classroom learning with real-world evidence and deepen their understanding of the intersection of climate change, public health, and sustainable development.

On 1 August 2026, students of PHS 307: Occupational Health from the PPHS Program, East West University, embarked on an insightful field visit to Valley Design Garments and Jute Potti, Mirpur, under the guidance of Rubayat Kabir, Senior Lecturer, Department of Social Relations.

The visit gave students a firsthand look at workplace conditions, occupational hazards, safety measures, sanitation, ventilation, and workers’ health challenges—turning classroom concepts into real-world learning.

✨ Because occupational health is best understood where work actually happens!

The Department of Social Relations, East West University, organized an educational field visit to Smiling Children Special School (SCSS) for students of the Population and Public Health Sciences (PPHS) program on 26 July 2026.

As part of the course PHS 304/7304: Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, under the guidance of Dr. Marzia Zaman Sultana, Senior Lecturer, the students gained firsthand experience of inclusive education and learned about the educational and therapeutic support provided to children with special needs and disabilities.

The visit concluded with an interactive discussion with the school authorities, highlighting the importance of creating a more inclusive and compassionate society for children with special needs.
