We are delighted to announce that ME'19 graduate from Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology - CUET, Konok Chandra Bhowmik, who has been selected for a Fully Funded PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame, USA, starting Fall 2026.

The funding includes a Teaching Assistantship (TA) initially, followed by a Research Assistantship (RA). The Chemical Engineering program at Notre Dame is ranked 29th according to U.S. News.

His research will focus on nanomaterials synthesis and their applications as battery materials. His undergraduate thesis focused on the development of green nanoparticles for energy-material applications.

His research profile includes:
• 9 journal articles published, including 5 Q1 publications
• 3 journal manuscripts under review
• 8 conference papers published
• 4 conference papers under review

He also served as a Research Assistant in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, CUET, from October 2025 to July 2026.

We are delighted to announce that ME'18 graduate from Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology - CUET Md. Shamim Ali, who has been selected for a Fully Funded Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA) at the University of North Texas (UNT), USA. 🇧🇩🇺🇸🎓

Before embarking on this new academic journey, he served as a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Anwer Khan Modern University for nearly two years, gaining valuable experience in teaching, mentoring, and academic activities.

His academic and research profile includes 2 published research papers, and he has fulfilled the English language proficiency requirement through IELTS.

Three CUET Students Drown in Campus Pond Within Two Weeks: A Tragedy That Has Shaken the CUET Community

With profound sorrow, the CUET community mourns the tragic loss of three students who lost their lives in separate drowning incidents in a campus pond within just two weeks.

Arnob — ME’21 — passed away on July 28
Arnob Dutta — CSE’24
Shanto — EEE’24 — both tragically passed away today

Three young lives, three families devastated, and an entire university community left in grief. Their untimely deaths have cast a deep shadow over the CUET campus, leaving friends, classmates, teachers, and loved ones struggling to come to terms with the loss.

At this moment of profound grief, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families, friends, and everyone who knew them.

May their souls rest in eternal peace.

We are delighted to announce the outstanding achievement of CE'17 graduate from Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology - CUET , Mir Tawsif Sultan, who has been selected for a Fully Funded Graduate Research Assistantship (MSc) at the Kumoh National Institute of Technology (KIT), South Korea which is a leading engineering-focused university, known for practical engineering education, research, and strong industry-academia collaboration.
As a Graduate Research Assistant (MSc Student) at the Advanced Underground Space Research Laboratory, he will be engaged in advanced research in Geotechnical Engineering and Underground Infrastructure, contributing to research aimed at addressing complex challenges in underground engineering and infrastructure development.
His graduate opportunity comes with a combined scholarship and monthly research grant, providing comprehensive financial support throughout his graduate research journey.

We are proud to announce that ME'19 graduate from Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology - CUET , 𝙈𝙙. 𝙏𝙖𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙧, has secured a fully funded MS in Mechanical Engineering with a Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) at The University of Texas at Tyler, USA, which is well recognized in the United States for its strong engineering education, research opportunities, and industry connections.

He will pursue his graduate studies in the Biomechanics and Medical Device Design Lab, where he will contribute to cutting-edge research in biomechanics and medical device innovation.

In addition to this achievement, Md. Tanvir Shahariar also received an offer for an MS in Mechanical Engineering with a Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

Currently, he is serving as a Trainee Assistant Engineer at the SS 1320 MW Super Critical Thermal Power Plant. Previously, he worked as a Trainee Mechanical Engineer at the Meghnaghat 450 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant, Narayanganj, gaining valuable industry experience in the power sector.

We are delighted to share that CE'18 graduate from Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology - CUETShakwat Karim Maher has secured admission to the MS in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering) program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, USA 🇺🇸 for Fall 2026.

He has been awarded a fully funded Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA)

Prior to this achievement, Maher served as a Research Assistant in the Department of Civil Engineering at CUET from November 2024 to July 2026, where his research focused on seismic isolation and the behavior of concrete and steel structures under extreme loading conditions. During this period, he co-authored 8 conference papers and has 1 journal manuscript currently under review.

We are delighted to share that ME'19 graduate from Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology - CUET , Shihab Shahriare, has been awarded the prestigious, fully funded Erasmus Mundus Scholarship to pursue the MULTIPHASE Master's Programme across three of Europe's leading technical institutions.

This highly competitive two-year programme will provide him with the opportunity to study at the Technical University of Munich (Germany), Politecnico di Torino (Italy), and Mines Saint-Étienne (France). Upon successful completion of the programme and a six-month industrial/research thesis, he will earn three nationally recognised master's degrees from these esteemed institutions.

Prior to accepting the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, Shihab also secured a fully funded PhD offer with a Teaching Assistantship in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (USA). He ultimately chose the Erasmus Mundus pathway to study at globally renowned European engineering institutions while gaining a unique multicultural academic experience.
