The Bangladesh Mathematical Society has decided to organize seminars across the country featuring prominent mathematicians in Bangladesh to celebrate their contribution in this field. In line with this initiative, the first seminar was held today at the Department of Mathematics of CUET, dedicated to the world-renowned mathematician and physicist Emeritus
Professor Dr. Jamal Nazrul Islam.
Twenty members of the Asian University for Women Math Club participated in this event, which was organized with the comprehensive support of the Bangladesh Mathematical Society and the CUET Math Club. Professor Dr. Anjan Kumar Chowdhury (from the center led by Professor Jamal at the University of Chittagong) and Professor Dr. Md. Sarwar Alam (from Jagannath University) served as keynote speakers. The technical session of the seminar was conducted by Professor Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam of the University of Dhaka, who is also the President of the Bangladesh Mathematical Society.
The seminar was inaugurated by the chief guest, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of CUET Prof. Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuyan, Dean Faculty of Science and Technology Prof. Dr. Abu Kauser was the special guest and presided over by Professor Dr. Mohammad Shah Alam, Head of the Department of Mathematics. Professor Dr. Ujjwal Kumar Deb, Moderator of the CUET Math Club, delivered the welcome address, while Lecturer Somen Bairagi moderated the inaugural session.
