Today, we pay heartfelt tribute to our beloved former Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mohammed Rahmatullah, on his birth anniversary. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit continues to guide the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, UODA.
He was more than an academic leader; he was a visionary scientist whose tireless dedication to the life sciences has left an indelible mark on our field. Countless researchers and students continue to draw inspiration from his passion for discovery and his commitment to excellence.
His vision, integrity, and love for education remain the standard we strive to uphold every day. While we deeply miss his presence, we find comfort in knowing his legacy lives on through the research we conduct, the knowledge we share, and the students we mentor.
On behalf of the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and remembrance to Professor Dr. Mohammed Rahmatullah. May his memory continue to inspire generations to come.

𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 𝗕𝗜𝗢𝗙𝗨𝗘𝗟 𝗗𝗔𝗬

Today, 10 August, is World Biofuel Day. On this day in 1893, the renowned engineer Sir 𝐑𝐮𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐥 successfully operated a mechanical engine using vegetable oil, opening a new horizon in the field of mechanized bioenergy.In today’s era of rapidly changing climate and global energy crises, industrial biotechnology, microbial metabolic engineering, and genetic editing have become one of the major focal points of scientific research worldwide as sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels.

Among the researchers contributing to global biofuel and bioenergy research is Dr. Asraful Alam Sharif, an accomplished alumnus of the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, University of Development Alternative (UODA). A recipient of the prestigious GNOBB Award, he has also been recognized among the World’s Top 2% Scientists in the Stanford University and Elsevier list. He currently serves as an Associate Professor at Zhengzhou University, China.

Continuing this spirit of scientific advancement, Biotech Club, UODA organized a special seminar on 19 April 2026, titled:
"𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗮𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀"

Today, biotechnology is enabling the conversion of agricultural waste, lignocellulosic biomass, and microalgal lipids into valuable biofuels such as bioethanol and biodiesel, while microbial genome engineering enhances production efficiency. These innovations can help reduce carbon emissions and accelerate the development of a sustainable circular bioeconomy.

On this World Biofuel Day, 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛,UODA extends its sincere greetings and profound respect to Dr. Mohammad Ashraful Alam and to all biotechnologists, energy scientists, and researchers advancing sustainable energy through science and innovation.

Today, we pay tribute to the remarkable molecule that carries the blueprint of life—DNA. From uncovering the mysteries of heredity to driving extraordinary progress in modern biotechnology, DNA has brought a revolutionary transformation to human knowledge. Through this discovery, we have gained invaluable insights into the structure of life, inheritance, genetic traits, and the root causes of diseases.

We pay deep respect to the great contributors behind the discovery of DNA and the explanation of its structure—James Watson, Francis Crick, Rosalind Franklin, and Maurice Wilkins. Their research laid the foundation of modern genetics, molecular biology, and biotechnology.

Because of DNA discovery, achievements such as gene therapy, forensic identification, personalized medicine, improved crops, and disease diagnosis are now possible.

On his anniversary, we remember with deep respect and heartfelt gratitude our beloved former Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mohammed Rahmatullah. His visionary leadership, academic wisdom, and lifelong dedication to the advancement of life sciences have left an enduring mark on our department and the broader scientific community.
