The ethos of imparting education in the Department of Law and Human Rights, UAP comprises of a mutual endeavor of the Faculty and the students who become part of our august family after clearing the hurdle of a rigorous and strenuous selection procedure. The Department has

been in a process of striving for academic and professional excellence in the field of legal studies in the country. The Department became functional from the year, 2005. Our teaching methodology and the student response to it can be safely summarized as being par excellence. Our student fraternity has won us laurels in the various spheres of National Moot Court Competition, Debate Competition, Legal Quiz Competition, General Knowledge Competition, Court Visit, Case Paper Presentations and the active participation in Sports and Cultural activities. We strive for an all round and inter-disciplinary academic excellence in sync with the other educational institutions of the country. Our students, who undergo rigorous theoretical and practical training and uphold high moral principles and human values, are the most promising treasure of the UAP to serve the judiciary, legal profession, academics, public and private institutions of the nation and the world at large. Our faculty enjoys providing best education possible through classrooms teaching, clinical training, and extra-curricular activities to the students and moulds them to become proud UAP Ambassadors. Our faculty aims to keep acquiring the highest standards of knowledge by continuous learning and simultaneously will seek to serve various bodies and commissions to contribute their knowledge and expertise to their functioning. In short, we will collectively pursue the goals of making the Department a premier law department in the nation in terms of education, research and training providing excellent legal education, training and career service to students/participants creating an excellent platform. Mehrajun Sakin and Proma Debnath, students of Department of Law and Human Rights from University of Asia Pacific, successfully secured the 1st Runner-Up position at the Undergraduate Law Symposium Spring 2026 organized by the Department of Law of North South University in collaboration with the Center for Legal Research, North South University.
Mehrajun Sakin and Proma Debnath, students of Law and Human Rights from University of Asia Pacific, successfully secured the 1st Runner-Up position at the Undergraduate Law Symposium Spring 2026 organized by the Department of Law of North South University in collaboration with the Center for Legal Research, North South University.

Their research paper, titled “Abuse of Rights and the UNSC Veto: Good-Faith Obligations in Humanitarian Crises in the Post-2024 Era,” explored one of the most significant contemporary issues in international law.

Through an outstanding and insightful paper presentation, they demonstrated strong academic excellence, critical legal analysis, and a deep understanding of international humanitarian and institutional law.

This remarkable achievement reflects their dedication to legal research and academic scholarship, bringing pride and recognition to the university community. The university extends its heartfelt congratulations and wishes them continued success in their future academic and professional endeavors.

The University of Asia Pacific (UAP) is delighted to share that UAP Law graduate Ms. Tajin Jannat Era (Registration No. 15111017, Batch 20, LLB (Honours) Program) has achieved remarkable success by securing positions in two prestigious cadres of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS). She has been selected for the Administration Cadre in the 44th BCS and the Foreign Affairs Cadre in the 45th BCS.

Published by the Department of Law and Human Rights, UAPJLP marks a significant milestone in advancing legal scholarship and academic excellence in Bangladesh. The journal was established by Dr. Chowdhury Ishrak Ahmed Siddiky, Editor-in-Chief of UAPJLP, under the guidance of Late National Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific.

Prof. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific, serves as the Advisor to the journal. The Editorial and Advisory Boards comprise distinguished legal scholars and academics from around the world, ensuring the highest standards of research integrity and intellectual rigor.

UAPJLP continues to contribute to global legal discourse by publishing innovative and policy-relevant research in the fields of law and human rights.
