The Department of Pharmacy, Primeasia University proudly celebrated World Pharmacists Day 2026 with a vibrant rally and a joyful gathering that brought the university community together in celebration of the pharmacy profession.

🚶‍♂️💊 The celebration began with a colourful pharmacy rally, where our students, faculty members, and university staff came together to highlight the vital role of pharmacists in building a healthier future.

The celebration was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Dean, Heads of Departments, faculty members, students, and university staff.

🎙️ The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of pharmacists and their contribution to healthcare and society.

🎂 The celebration continued with a cake-cutting ceremony, bringing everyone together in a moment of joy, unity, and professional pride.

🎓 From Pharmacy at Primeasia to Cancer Research at Harvard

We are proud to celebrate the remarkable journey of our alumna Mina Akter, whose path from the Department of Pharmacy, Primeasia University, has led her to the forefront of cancer and radiation biology research in the United States.

Featured in The Daily Star, Mina’s journey reflects how a pharmacy education can open doors far beyond conventional career paths—from a fully funded MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences at South Dakota State University, to research at Johns Hopkins University, and now to Harvard Medical School & Massachusetts General Hospital, where she is working in the Bertolet Lab on radiopharmaceutical therapy and targeted radiation approaches.

Her story is a powerful reminder that curiosity, research, perseverance, and continuous learning can transform a pharmacy graduate into a scientist contributing to the fight against cancer.

🌸 **Learning Beyond the Classroom | Department of Pharmacy**

The Department of Pharmacy, Primeasia University, is committed to providing students with learning experiences that go beyond the traditional classroom and laboratory.

As part of this approach, our students visited **Cosmetica Dhaka**, an industry-focused event that provided them with an excellent opportunity to explore the evolving world of **cosmetics, personal care products, formulation, ingredients, and the beauty industry**.

💄 For our students taking **Cosmetology Theory and Practical courses**, the visit offered valuable real-world exposure to concepts they study in their academic curriculum. It allowed them to observe current products, technologies, ingredients, and industry practices while connecting their theoretical knowledge with practical applications.

🔬 Such industry exposure is particularly important in pharmacy education, where understanding **formulation, product development, quality, safety, and regulatory considerations** extends beyond medicines to include cosmetics and personal care products.

We are proud to facilitate opportunities where our students can **see, explore, question, and learn from the industry firsthand**—helping them develop a broader perspective and prepare for diverse career opportunities in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors.

We're incredibly proud to feature alumna Mina Akter, whose path from Primeasia University's Department of Pharmacy has led her to prestigious research roles at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Mina's journey began with a strong foundation in pharmaceutical sciences at Primeasia, where her undergraduate thesis on insecticide effects ignited a passion for biomedical research. This academic curiosity propelled her to pursue a Master's degree in the USA, followed by significant contributions in radiation oncology at Johns Hopkins University.

Currently, as a Research Technician at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, Mina focuses on groundbreaking radiopharmaceutical therapy and targeted radiation approaches for cancer treatment.

Reflecting on her journey, Mina shares, "What matters is continuing to build your skills, reaching out to mentors, gaining research experience, being open to new fields, and not allowing one rejection or setback to define what you are capable of."
