আমাদের দেশে বিভিন্ন ধরনের শিক্ষার মধ্যে কারিগরি শিক্ষা হল অন্যতম যুগউপযোগী শিক্ষা। বর্তমানে সব জায়গায় অভিজ্ঞ ও দক্ষ জনশক্তির ব্যাপক চাহিদা। সুতরাং সহজেই এ বহুমুখী ক্যারিয়ারে প্রতিভার বিকাশ ঘটানো সম্ভব। বাংলাদেশে গত এক দশকে বহু কারিগরি কলেজ এবং প্রশিক্ষণ কেন্দ্র গড়ে উঠেছে। প্রতি বছর যে লক্ষ-লক্ষ তরুণ চাকরীর বাজরে আসছে, তাদের কর্মসংস্থানের জন্য কারিগরি শিক্ষা একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখছে। দেশের বেকার সমস্যা সমাধানে কারিগরি শিক্ষার আরো প্রসার জরুরি।

কারিগরি শিক্ষা কী?
হাতে কলমে বাস্তবধর্মী শিক্ষাই হল কারিগরি শিক্ষা। অর্থাৎ যে শিক্ষা কোন একটা বিষয়ে দক্ষ করে তুলে। তাত্ত্বিক জ্ঞান থেকে হাতে কলমে প্রশিক্ষিত জ্ঞান বেশি সমাদৃত। তাই কারিগরি শিক্ষার গুরুত্বও অনেক বেশি। কোন জাতির স্কিল্ড ওয়ার্কার তৈরিতে যেমন উচ্চশিক্ষা জরুরী, তেমনি জরুরী ভোকেশনাল ট্রেনিং । পেশাগত অর্থে, ভোকেশনাল শিক্ষাব্যবস্থা হল কাউকে চাকুরী বা কর্মের জন্য উপযুক্ত করে তৈরি করা। সামষ্টিক অর্থে ভেট ট্রেনিং ব্যবস্থা নির্ভর করে কোন দেশের আর্থসামাজিক ও ইনভায়ারনমেন্টাল প্রেক্ষাপটের উপর। এ অর্থে পৃথিবীর যেকোনো দেশের চেয়ে আমাদের দেশের টিভেট ব্যবস্থা হবে আরো বেশী বিস্তৃত ও সাস্টেনেবল। বিদেশে ভেটে শিক্ষা দেয় ব্যবসায়ে, প্রশাসনে, বিজ্ঞানে, ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিংয়ে, হেলথসাইন্সে, ইত্যাদি। তাই মাঝে মাঝে কারিগরি শিক্ষাকে বলা হয় স্বীকৃত টেকনিক্যাল এডুকেশন ব্যবস্থা যার কদর অনেক সময় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়’কেও ছাড়িয়ে যায়।

কেন কারিগরি শিক্ষা?
বাংলাদেশ কারিগরি শিক্ষা বোর্ডের মূল স্লোগান – “কারিগরি শিক্ষা নিলে বিশ্ব জুড়ে কর্ম মিলে।” কারিগরি শিক্ষা নিলে কখনই বেকার থাকতে হয় না। কারিগরি শিক্ষা গ্রহন করলে নিজের পাশাপাশি আরো লোকজনের কর্মসংস্থান তৈরি করা যায়। এই বিষয়ে পড়লে চাকরি খুঁজতে হবে না। নিজে স্বলম্বী হতে চাইলে, ল্যাব অথবা ওয়ার্কশপ দেয়া যায়। তৈরি করা যায়, নতুন নতুন কর্মসংস্থানের সুযোগ। উন্নত দেশ যেমন- জার্মানি, জাপান, সিঙ্গাপুর, দক্ষিণ কোরিয়া, মালয়েশিয়ার উন্নতির পেছনে রয়েছে এই কারিগরি শিক্ষা। জার্মানি কারিগরি শিক্ষায় শিক্ষিতের হার শতকরা ৬৬ ভাগ, সিংগাপুরে ৬৫, জাপানে ৬০, দক্ষিণ কোরিয়াতে ৪০ এবং মালয়েশিয়াতে ২৫ ভাগ। তাই এই শিক্ষা শুধু ব্যক্তি কিংবা পরিবারের নয়, দেশ ও জাতির উন্নতি করবে।

পড়াশুনা:
কারিগরি শিক্ষায় শিক্ষিত হয়ে ক্যারিয়ার গড়তে চাইলে কারিগরি শিক্ষা বোর্ডের অধীনে পলিটেকনিক ইন্সটিটিউটে ৪ বছর মেয়াদি ডিপ্লোমা-ইন-ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং কোর্সে পড়াশোনার সুযোগ রয়েছে। বর্তমানে আমাদের দেশে ৪৯টি সরকারী পলিটেকনিক ইন্সটিটিউটের পাশাপাশি ৪০০ টির মত বেসরকারী পলিটেকনিক রয়েছে।

উচ্চশিক্ষা :
ডিপ্লোমা ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিংয়ে পড়াশোনা শেষে মানোন্নয়ন ও গবেষণার সুযোগ লাভের জন্য দেশ ও দেশের বাহিরে উচ্চশিক্ষা নেয়ার সুব্যবস্থা আছে। শিক্ষার্থীরা চাইলে বিএসসি ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং, এমএসসি ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং ও পিএইচডি করতে পারে।

ক্যারিয়ার সম্ভাবনা :
কারিগরি শিক্ষায় রয়েছে বহুমুখী স্বপ্নের উজ্জ্বল ক্যারিয়ার। চাকরির জন্য রয়েছে সরকারি-বেসরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠানে অনেক ক্ষেত্র। যেমন- ডিপ্লোমা-ইঞ্জিনিয়ারদের চাকরির সবচেয়ে বড় বাজার হল সরকারি ইপিজেডগুলো ও গাজীপুর মেশিন টুলস ফ্যাক্টরি। এছাড়া রিয়েল এস্টেট কোম্পানি, সয়েল টেস্ট ফার্ম, কনস্ট্রাকশন, হাইভোল্টেজ ক্যাবল লাইন, পাওয়ার জেনারেটর প্লান্ট, হাউস ওয়ারিং, শিল্প-কলকারখানা, বিভিন্ন স্ট্রাকচার ডিজাইন ফার্ম, ইন্টেরিয়র ডেকোরেশন অ্যান্ড ডিজাইন ফার্ম, ই-কম্পিউটার ডিজাইনার ডাটা, অ্যান্ট্রি, মেডিকেল ট্রান্সক্রিপশন, সফটওয়ার ফার্ম, হার্ডওয়ার ফার্ম, গ্রাফিকস ডিজাইন, বিভিন্ন ট্রেনিং প্রতিষ্ঠান, বিভিন্ন টেক্সটাইল মিল, গার্মেন্ট অ্যান্ড ফ্যাশন হাউস, গ্লাস অ্যান্ড সিরামিক ডিজাইন সরবরাহ ও প্রস্তুতকারী প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলো, পল্লীবিদ্যুৎ, ডেসকো, আইডিবি, বিটিসিএল, মেডিকেল ল্যাব, একাধিক সিমেন্ট ফ্যাক্টরি ও ওষুধ কোম্পানিসহ দেশে-বিদেশে শত শত প্রতিষ্ঠানে রয়েছে বহুমাত্রিক ক্যারিয়ারের সুবর্ণ সুযোগ। কারণ এসব প্রতিষ্ঠানে রয়েছে ডিপ্লোমা ইজ্ঞিনিয়ারদের ব্যাপক চাহিদা। মোটকথা ডিপ্লোমা ইঞ্জিনিয়ারদের বেকার থাকা বা কাজ না পাওয়ার আশংকা খুব কম। এখানে পড়াশোনা শেষ করেই রয়েছে চাকরির নিশ্চয়তা। রয়েছে সফল ক্যারিয়ারের হাতছানি। আর দেরি না করে এ পেশায় গড়তে পারেন আপনার স্বপ্নের রঙিন ক্যারিয়ার।
