The 16th session of the ‘Charcha’ (চর্চা) lecture series, organized by the Department of Architecture, Bangladesh University, was held successfully at the permanent campus of Bangladesh University.
Titled “Architecture Matters” — স্থাপত্যের প্রাসঙ্গিকতা, the session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Nurur Rahman Khan, architect, educator, and Dean of the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology at Bangladesh University.
In an engaging and thought-provoking lecture, Prof. Khan reflected on three fundamental questions: Does architecture matter? How does it matter? What matters in architecture? Through insightful discussions on space, material, light, structure, memory, culture, and context, he emphasized the profound role architecture plays in shaping human experience and mediating relationships between people, place, and time.
The session brought together students, faculty members, architects, and guests in a vibrant atmosphere of intellectual exchange and critical discussion. Participants had the opportunity to engage with important architectural ideas and perspectives shared through Prof. Khan’s extensive academic and professional experience.
