In the Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings 2022, BRAC University (BRACU) is ranked GLOBAL TOP 50 for the United Nations' (UN) 'Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1: No Poverty.'

In terms of total ranking, BRACU is ranked 1st in Bangladesh and 301-400th globally. According to Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2022, BRACU's success in delivering the goals of the university's research on poverty and their support for disadvantaged students and citizens in the local community has been deemed to be quite substantial.

On April 27, 2022, Times Higher Education University (THE) Impact Rankings 2022 announcement was made in London. BRACU's other rankings positions include top 200 for SDG 4 (ensuring qualitative education) and top 200 for SDG 8 (achieving decent work and economic growth).

On an important note, Professor Vincent Chang, Vice-Chancellor of BRAC University, stated, "BRAC University is firmly committed to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, and we will continue to drive our activities in that direction."

Dipu Moni said that the quality of our education is not bad compared with other countries in terms of higher education. She quoted, "The quality of education in our universities is much better, but there is room for improvement."

Citing the example of BUET in the world rankings, the education minister said that BUET has come a long way in the rankings. Besides, various universities, including Dhaka University and Khulna University, are performing extraordinarily. Dipu Moni also added that many of our universities are doing world-class research. However, they need to pay more attention.

In the country, there are currently 106 authorized private universities. By law they are required to build their own permanent campuses within seven years of opening. But a few of them have failed to do so.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) is taking a firm stance against 22 private universities in the country that failed to move to their own campuses as required by law. The agency has ruled that if these institutions do not move to their own campuses by December of this year, student admittance would be suspended beginning in January of the next year. Simultaneously, campuses or buildings that are not permanent campuses will be considered illegal. The list of universities include BRACU, MIU, Daffodil to name a few.

BRAC University signed an agreement with Texas A&M University-Commerce (TAMUC) recently to initiate student, faculty and staff exchange, research and grant application collaboration, initiation of joint projects with societal impacts, etc. Professor Vincent Chang, Vice-Chancellor, BRAC University signed the agreement which was also signed by Dr. Mark Rudin, President, TAMUC and brought in by Dr. Mario Hayek, Dean, College of Business, TAMUC. Dr. Sang Lee, Dean, BRAC Business School (BBS) and Dr. Mario Hayek were instrumental in finalizing the agreement.

The signing ceremony took place during the official visit of Dean Hayek to BRAC University. The ceremony was witnessed by Dr. Sang Lee, Dean of BBS and other senior administrators of BRACU including Ms. Ismat Shereen, Head of International and Scholarship Office, Dr. Dave Dowland, Registrar, and Dr. Charalabos Doumanidis, Vice President of Research, BRAC University.

The agreement will enable BBS students to start their bachelor degrees at BRAC University and finish at TAMUC. The agreement will also allow BBS bachelor graduates to study in relevant graduate programs in the Business disciplines at TAMUC with more than 40 percent reduced tuition fees. These agreements will help aspiring BRAC University students to enroll into TAMUC undergraduate and graduate programs.
