🧬𝗽𝟱𝟯: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗲🛡️

Did you know that mutations in the TP53 gene are found in over 50% of human cancers?

p53 is a tumor suppressor protein that:
✔ Stops the cell cycle when DNA is damaged
✔ Activates DNA repair to fix mutations
✔ Triggers apoptosis if damage is beyond repair
✔ Prevents uncontrolled cell growth to stop cancer

But when p53 is mutated, it loses its protective power, allowing cancer cells to thrive. Scientists are working on therapies to restore or mimic p53 function, which brings hope for future cancer treatments.

🔎 Stay curious. Keep learning. Fight cancer with knowledge. 🧪

Another enriching Immuno-Talk session on "Understanding Rheumatoid Arthritis" was successful. A huge thank you to our club mentor and teacher, Rayhan Mahfuz R**t, for his insightful presentation and guidance throughout the session. We also want to thank all our members for attending and actively participating in the session. Your engagement made the discussion even more impactful. In the session, we discussed:
• 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗥𝗵𝗲𝘂𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀?
An autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks healthy joints, causing inflammation, pain, and joint damage.
• 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱?
Anyone can be affected, but it’s more common in women and typically develops between ages 30 and 60.
• 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:
Medications, physical therapy, and surgery can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

We also learned about how RA is caused, its common symptoms, the stages of the disease, and its potential impact on daily life.
Excited for more thought-provoking discussions ahead. Stay tuned for more upcoming events from Epitope. ⚜️
