Congratulations to Dr. Syed Masudur Rahman Dewan, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacy, United International University, on being recognised among the Top 2% Scientists for 2025–2026 in the field of Clinical Medicine, with Oncology & Carcinogenesis as his subfield.

The recognition is based on the Top 2% Scientists list developed through data sourced from Stanford University and the Dutch academic publisher Elsevier, highlighting researchers with significant impact through their scholarly contributions.

We are proud of this remarkable achievement and wish Dr. Masud continued success in his research journey.

The Department of Pharmacy, United International University (UIU) successfully celebrated World Pharmacists’ Day 2026 under the theme “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures.”

The celebration was graced by distinguished guests, including Professor Choudhury Mahmood Hasan, Emeritus Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, University of Dhaka, as the Chief Guest; Dr. Md. Akter Hossain, Director, Directorate General of Drug Administration, as the Special Guest; and Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia, Vice Chancellor, United International University. Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Mazid, Advisor, School of Life Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Tahmina Foyez, Head, Department of Pharmacy, were also present.

In his insightful address, Dr. Md. Akter Hossain highlighted the importance of quality pharmacy education in strengthening the healthcare sector and emphasized the expanding role of pharmacists in ensuring safe, effective, and rational use of medicines.

Professor Choudhury Mahmood Hasan shared his remarkable journey in pharmacy academia and spoke on the importance of pharmacy education, hospital pharmacy, and the diverse contributions pharmacists can make across hospital and community pharmacy practice.

The celebration concluded with the handing over of awards to the winners of various competitions held as part of Pharma Fiesta, adding a memorable conclusion to the event.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our distinguished guests for their valuable insights and inspiring presence, which made the celebration meaningful and memorable. Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to our students, whose enthusiasm, participation, and dedication made the event a success.

The Department of Pharmacy, United International University (UIU), successfully hosted an insightful seminar on “Next-Generation Liposomal Nanocarriers: Emerging Strategies for Targeted Drug Delivery” on 08 September 2026 at the Innovation Hub, 10th Floor.

We were honored to welcome Dr. Sabrina Sharmin, Senior Lecturer, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, and a proud alumna of the University of Dhaka, as our distinguished guest speaker.

During the seminar, Dr. Sharmin shared valuable insights into:

🔹 Next-generation liposomal nanocarriers and their emerging applications
🔹 Innovative strategies for targeted drug delivery
🔹 Recent advances in pharmaceutical nanotechnology
🔹 The potential of liposomal drug delivery systems in modern therapeutics
🔹 Research opportunities and future directions in nanomedicine

The seminar was further enriched by the presence of distinguished academics, researchers, and students from different institutions. We were pleased to welcome Dr. Md. Zahidul Islam, Chairman and Acting Head, Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Jahangirnagar University; Ms. Fatema Akhter, Lecturer, Faculty of Pharmacy, Bangladesh University; and Mr. Affan Rafique, Research Administration Officer, BRAC University, along with students from Bangladesh University.

Their presence and participation added a valuable dimension to the academic exchange and made the event a wonderful platform for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and inspiring the next generation of pharmaceutical researchers and professionals.

We sincerely thank Dr. Sabrina Sharmin for her engaging and enlightening presentation and for sharing her expertise and research experience with us. The distinguished speaker, Mr. Sagar Paul, shared valuable insights on building a career opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry, covering:
