Led by our esteemed Coordinator, Dr. Sara Tasneem, alongside our dedicated faculty members, the session took place in a delightful environment focused on our collective growth. The productive dialogue centered around the continuous betterment of the department, vital updates on student affairs, and strategic planning for upcoming departmental activities. This fruitful gathering was made truly successful by the enthusiastic presence and active participation of students from all batches. ● Duration: 4 Years (8 Semesters)
𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗠𝗨𝗠 𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗜𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗔
Prospective candidates must satisfy the following academic requirements:
● Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or Equivalent: Completion between the years 2020 and 2023.
● Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or Equivalent: Completion in the year 2024 or 2025.
● Grade Point Average (GPA): A minimum combined GPA of 6.00 (inclusive of the fourth subject), with a minimum of GPA 3.00 in both SSC and HSC or equivalent examinations.
● International Curriculum (O/A Level): A minimum of five subjects in O Level and two subjects in A Level. Candidates must have attained at least a Grade B in O Level and a Grade C in A Level.

Development FC, the defending champions of the DSCE Football Tournament 2026, delivered a spirited performance before exiting in the semifinals.The club was honoured by the organising committee during the final match, with the coin toss conducted by our former Vice Captain, Md Firoz Hosen. Heartiest congratulations to Ababil Striker on winning the championship and to Growth Hackers on securing the runners-up position. The glory of Development FC remains intact.

This May Day, the Department of Development Economics proudly joins the global community in celebrating International Workers’ Day, standing in firm solidarity with the working class who serve as the true engine of our nation’s progress. The legacy of May 1st is rooted in the 1886 Haymarket struggle for the 8-hour workday a reminder that labor rights are never given, but won through courage and unity. As we reflect on this history, we must turn our gaze to the current landscape in Bangladesh. While our economy reaches new heights, the reality for many remains a struggle against rising inflation, the need for safer factory floors, and the fundamental right to a living wage that ensures dignity rather than just survival.

We believe that true economic development is hollow if it does not translate into improved living standards and genuine freedom for the laborers in our fields and factories. It is time to move beyond the metrics of output and focus on the quality of life. From the RMG sector to the informal workforce, we advocate for a future where every worker is protected by robust safety nets and empowered by the freedom of association. Today, we don’t just celebrate work; we demand a world where labor is respected, voices are heard, and prosperity is shared by those who build it.

Today was a special day at the Dhaka School of Economics! We officially welcomed Dr. Sara Tasneem mam as our new Coordinator for the Department of Development Economics. Having our Director, Rehana Parvin mam, with us added a wonderful grace to the event.
While we welcome new leadership, our hearts are full of respect for Dr. Narayan Chandra Sinha sir. To the man who has been a guardian, mentor, and guide to every student thank you for everything. It was wonderful to see the solidarity of coordinators from across the campus today.
