NEXUS Seminar Series | Lecture 03 | Ideas that Shape Business, Economy & Society

As ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and climate mandates increasingly reshape the world of business, the latest session of the NEXUS Seminar Series at United International University (UIU) brought together voices from academia, industry, and education to explore โ€œNavigating ESG & Climate Mandates: Risks and Rewards for Female Professionals and Women-Owned Firms.โ€

The discussion highlighted how climate risks, resource pressures, and rising adaptation costs are influencing businesses, while women continue to face barriers to finance, leadership, professional networks, and entrepreneurship. Speakers emphasized that inclusion is an economic imperative and highlighted the need to equip future professionals with practical skills, adaptability, networking, and purposeful career planning.

Convened by Prof. M. Niaz Asadullah, the session featured Dr. Afifa Raihana, Ms. Priti Chakraborty, Ms. Fahima Shahadat, and Ms. Sabrina Shaheed, with an engaging Q&A session with the audience adding further depth to the conversation.

A memorable afternoon at United International University (UIU) as cinema, storytelling, and creativity came together for an engaging conversation around the movie โ€œเฆฐเฆ‡เฆฆโ€ (ROID).

On 15 August 2026, UIU hosted an inspiring panel discussion featuring director Mejbaur Rahman Sumon, actress Nazifa Tushi, and singer & lyricist Shibu Kumar Shill. The conversation offered students and attendees an opportunity to explore the creative journey behind ROID, from filmmaking and performance to music and storytelling.

Welcoming a new chapter in Cybersecurity and Network Security at UIU.

United International University (UIU) is pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Md. Shohrab Hossain as a Full-Time Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).

With over two decades of academic, teaching, and research experience, Prof. Hossain brings expertise in Cybersecurity, Network Security, Malware Analysis, Intrusion Detection, and Software Defined Networking. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Oklahoma, USA, and has an impressive record of research publications in leading IEEE journals and conferences.

His contributions to national cybersecurity capacity building, alongside his academic and professional achievements, further strengthen UIUโ€™s commitment to research excellence, industry-relevant education, and the development of future-ready cybersecurity professionals.

We are delighted to welcome Prof. Dr. Md. Shohrab Hossain to the UIU family and look forward to his valuable contributions to our students, researchers, and academic community.
