The Department of Media and Communications is delighted to share that two of our talented students—Riasat Salekin (Major) and Sayrat Salekin (Minor, with a Major in Anthropology)—have been selected as grant recipients for Film for Change 2026, a national film incubation initiative launched by CinemaScope, the film apprenticeship program of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, in collaboration with Oxfam in Bangladesh.

Their project, The Hanging Gardens of Bancharam, has been awarded a production grant of up to BDT 1 lakh, along with mentorship and technical support from industry professionals and academics. Film for Change supports emerging filmmakers in creating socially engaged cinema that addresses critical issues such as social justice, climate resilience, and economic inequality.
This recognition underscores our students’ creative excellence and reflects the Department’s continued commitment to impact-driven, practice-led, ethical storytelling and interdisciplinary media practice.

Congratulations to Riasat and Sayrat on this well-deserved achievement!
