🌍✨ Proud Moment for IUB Media & Communication!
Suvadro Sarkar, a student of the Department of Media and Communication at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), was selected to take part in the 17th International Winter Residential School on Economic, Social and Development Rights (ESDR) and Digital Technology in Nepal.
The 21-day intensive residential program, organized by the Kathmandu School of Law (KSL), Nepal, was held at the International Outreach Research Center, a unit of KSL. The program was affiliated with the Global Campus of Human Rights academic network, as Kathmandu School of Law is a member of this international platform.
Conducted from 15 December 2025 to 5 January 2026, the winter school brought together 23 participants from 4 countries Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Nepal. Throughout the program, participants explored major themes in economic, social, and development rights, while also engaging in timely discussions on how digital technology is reshaping contemporary rights and responsibilities.
Participants were assessed across the full 21 days through a combination of academic and practical activities, including lectures and workshops, group-based exercises such as debate competitions and a SAARC Summit simulation, and also vlogging competition, regular class participation, maintenance daily class note, and assessment submissions such as movie and documentary reviews and also article writing.The Diploma Certificate was awarded to participants who achieved an overall satisfactory performance with a minimum score of 65%.
Based on his strong performance throughout the program, Suvadro Sarkar received a Diploma Certificate, bringing recognition to both him and Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). The program supported his academic focus in media and communication by improving his skills in storytelling and digital content production (vlogging), strengthening critical thinking and communication through debate-based activities, and connecting rights-based communication to current issues such as privacy, data protection, algorithms and platform governance, Artificial intelligence and digital technology. The program also included discussions on international media law and ethics, which directly align with his academic interests and are expected to support his future academic and professional development.
