The Bangladesh Health Watch at BRAC University is inviting applications for the position of Programme Manager – Advocacy and Knowledge Management.

This role will lead advocacy and knowledge management initiatives, helping translate research evidence into policy-relevant messages and strengthening engagement with policymakers, civil society, and development partners. The position will play a key role in advancing dialogue and action around health systems accountability and Universal Health Coverage in Bangladesh.

Key responsibilities include:
• Leading advocacy and policy engagement strategies
• Translating research into policy briefs and knowledge products
• Overseeing knowledge management systems and documentation
• Strengthening partnerships with stakeholders across sectors
• Supporting strategic communication and visibility initiatives

Requirements:
• Master’s degree in public health, health policy, development studies, social sciences, communications, or a related field
• At least 10 years of experience in advocacy, policy engagement, or knowledge management
• Strong writing, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to translate technical evidence into policy-relevant messages

Drawing on conversations with adolescent boys in Dhaka, the article highlights how silence, stigma, and gaps in education shape their understanding of menstruation. While Bangladesh has made progress in menstrual hygiene awareness, leaving boys out of the discussion continues to reinforce stigma and misinformation.

𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞

On 8 March 2026, the CSO Forum for Strengthening Sustainable Ecosystem in Bangladesh held its quarterly meeting at the BRAC James P. Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University.

The forum reaffirms its commitment to advancing the health, rights, and dignity of women and girls on International Women’s Day 2026, under the theme 'Give to Gain', with collective efforts to ensure a more equitable reality for all women and girls.

The session was moderated by Dr. Sayed Rubayet, Country Director of Ipas in Bangladesh, with a welcome speech by Professor Dr. Kaosar Afsana from BRAC James P. Grant School of Public Health, and concluding remarks from Dr. Altaf Hossain, Executive Director of BAPSA.

On behalf of the Humanitarian Hub, Reza E. Rabbi presented updates on the completed project on 'Female Death Registration' study, which was conducted in partnership with the Johns Hopkins University Gender Equity Unit, Vital Strategies and Bloomberg Philanthropies.

The session brought together key partners and stakeholders to review progress, exchange updates, and reinforce collaborative efforts to advance Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Bangladesh. Together, the Forum continues to drive momentum for a more inclusive, sustainable, and rights-based SRHR ecosystem.

BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health marked International Women’s Day with a seminar on 𝐼𝑛𝑣𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑛 𝐻𝑒𝑟: 𝑆𝑘𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑠, 𝑀𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑝, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐶𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑒𝑟 𝐴𝑑𝑣𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡, along with a short film screening and an art exhibition.

A special highlight of the event was hearing from women across different roles, including a security guard, a chauffeur, and a midwifery nurse, who shared their personal journeys alongside our researchers.

Their stories offered powerful reflections on resilience, opportunity, and the importance of supporting women in every sphere of work.

The course equipped students with key skills in epidemiologic study designs, interpreting population health indicators, and applying evidence to public health practice.
