আন্তর্জাতিক মিডওয়াইফ দিবস ২০২৬ উদযাপন ও “নিরাপদ মাতৃসেবায় বিশ্বব্যাপী আরও ১০ লক্ষ মিডওয়াইফ প্রয়োজন”

আজ ৫ মে ২০২৬, বিশ্বব্যাপী উদযাপিত হলো আন্তর্জাতিক মিডওয়াইফ দিবস। এ উপলক্ষে BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University-এর মিডওয়াইফারি এডুকেশন প্রোগ্রাম নানা আয়োজনের মধ্য দিয়ে দিনটি উদযাপন করে।
এ বছরের প্রতিপাদ্য “নিরাপদ মাতৃসেবায় বিশ্বব্যাপী আরও ১০ লক্ষ মিডওয়াইফ প্রয়োজন”—যা মাতৃ ও নবজাতকের স্বাস্থ্যসেবা নিশ্চিত করতে দক্ষ মিডওয়াইফের অপরিহার্য ভূমিকা তুলে ধরে। এই প্রতিপাদ্যকে সামনে রেখে আয়োজিত কর্মসূচিতে ছিল বর্ণাঢ্য র‍্যালি, নাটক এবং উপস্থাপনা।

অনুষ্ঠানের অন্যতম আকর্ষণ ছিল মিডওয়াইফারি প্রোগ্রামের ১২তম ব্যাচের নবীন শিক্ষার্থীদের “ক্যাপিং সেরিমনি”। এ সময় তাদের মাথায় ক্যাপ পরিয়ে এই মহান পেশায় আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে স্বাগত জানানো হয়।

অনুষ্ঠানে ডা. শারমিনা রহমান, পরিচালক, মিডওয়াইফারি শিক্ষা ও নার্সিং প্রোগ্রাম, মিডওয়াইফারি পেশার প্রয়োজনীয়তা ও গুরুত্ব তুলে ধরেন। অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন পারভিন সুলতানা, প্রতিনিধি মোহাম্মদপুর ফার্টিলিটি সার্ভিসেস অ্যান্ড ট্রেনিং সেন্টার। তিনি বলেন, দক্ষ মিডওয়াইফ তৈরির মাধ্যমে মাতৃমৃত্যু ও নবজাতকের মৃত্যুহার কমানো সম্ভব।

এরই ধারাবাহিকতায় ৪ মে ২০২৬ তারিখে আন্তর্জাতিক মিডওয়াইফ দিবস উপলক্ষে T&T মহিলা কলেজে শিক্ষার্থীদের অংশগ্রহণে একটি স্বাস্থ্যসেবা বিষয়ক সচেতনতামূলক কর্মসূচি (Health Benefit Programme) আয়োজন করা হয়। উক্ত কর্মসূচিতে শিক্ষার্থী ও অংশগ্রহণকারীদের মাঝে মাতৃস্বাস্থ্য, নবজাতকের যত্ন এবং স্বাস্থ্য সচেতনতা বিষয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ তথ্য প্রদান করা হয়।

উদযাপনটি মিডওয়াইফদের অবদানকে সম্মান জানানো এবং ভবিষ্যতে আরও দক্ষ মিডওয়াইফ গড়ে তোলার অঙ্গীকার পুনর্ব্যক্ত করার একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ প্ল্যাটফর্ম হিসেবে বিবেচিত হয়।
