বাংলাদেশে প্রতিষ্ঠিত প্রথম তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি ও বিজ্ঞানভিত্তিক বেসরকারি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ইউনিভার্সিটি অব ইনফরমেশন টেকনোলজি অ্যান্ড সায়েন্সেস (ইউআইটিএস)-এর বসন্তকালীন সেমিস্টার ২০২৬-এর শিক্ষার্থীদের নবীনবরণ অদ্য ১৭ মে, রবিবার, ২০২৬ খ্রি. সকাল ০৯:০০ টায় রাজধানীর বারিধারা ডিপ্লোমেটিক জোন সংলগ্ন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ওপেন গ্যালারিতে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাননীয় উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক ড. মো. আবু হাসান ভূঁইয়া-এর সভাপতিত্বে উক্ত অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথির আসন গ্রহণ করেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাননীয় উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক ড. এ বি এম ওবায়দুল ইসলাম।

প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাননীয় উপাচার্য বলেন, জীবনে সফল হতে হলে সময়ের যথাযথ মূল্যায়ন ও কঠোর পরিশ্রমের কোনো বিকল্প নেই। তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের হতাশা ও ইয়ার ড্রপ সংস্কৃতি থেকে বেরিয়ে এসে সময়মতো শিক্ষাজীবন এগিয়ে নেওয়ার আহ্বান জানান। তিনি বলেন, “আজকের কাজ আগামীকালের জন্য ফেলে রাখা উচিত নয়; কারণ সময় একবার চলে গেলে তা আর ফিরে আসে না।”
তিনি আরও বলেন, জীবনে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হওয়ার পেছনে কঠোর পরিশ্রম, মা-বাবার দোয়া এবং শিক্ষকদের আশীর্বাদের গুরুত্ব অপরিসীম। তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের শুধু পুঁথিগত বিদ্যায় সীমাবদ্ধ না থেকে খেলাধুলা, সামাজিক ও সাংস্কৃতিক কর্মকাণ্ডে সম্পৃক্ত হওয়ার আহ্বান জানান।

বক্তব্যে তিনি বিশ্ববিখ্যাত রুশ সাহিত্যিক লিও তলস্তয়-এর “থ্রি কোয়েশ্চেনস” প্রসঙ্গ উল্লেখ করে বর্তমান সময়, বর্তমান কাজ এবং মানুষের প্রতি দায়িত্ববোধের গুরুত্ব তুলে ধরেন। তিনি বলেন, মানুষের প্রকৃত পরিচয় তার কর্মে।

তিনি সমাজ পরিবর্তনে শিক্ষার্থীদের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রয়েছে বলে উল্লেখ করেন। তিনি জুলাই আন্দোলনে বেসরকারি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীদের অবদানও শ্রদ্ধার সঙ্গে স্মরণ করেন।

তিনি আরও বলেন, ইউআইটিএস-এ শিক্ষার্থীদের দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধির পর্যাপ্ত সুযোগ রয়েছে। তিনি আশা প্রকাশ করেন, শিক্ষার্থীরা নিজেদের দক্ষ করে গড়ে তুলবে। একই সঙ্গে তিনি ইউআইটিএস-এর বসন্তকালীন সেমিস্টার ২০২৬-এর নবীনবরণ অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত থাকতে পেরে কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করেন এবং নবীন শিক্ষার্থীদের অভিনন্দন এবং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সংশ্লিষ্ট সকলকে ধন্যবাদ জানান।

উক্ত অনুষ্ঠানে স্বাগত বক্তব্য রাখেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রেজিস্ট্রার জনাব মোহাম্মদ কামরুল হাসান। এ সময় আলোচনাপর্বে শিক্ষার্থীদের উদ্দেশ্যে দিকর্নিদেশনামূলক বক্তব্য রাখেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের কোষাধ্যক্ষ অধ্যাপক ড. সিরাজ উদ্দীন আহমেদ ও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আইন উপদেষ্টা এডভোকেট মোঃ আব্দুল মান্নান ভূঁইয়া।

অনুষ্ঠানটি সঞ্চালনা করেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপদেষ্টা (ছাত্র কল্যাণ) জনাব শুভ দাস। অনুষ্ঠানের শুরুতে পবিত্র কুরআনুল কারিম থেকে তেলাওয়াত করেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থী আব্দুল মুস্তাকিম মুবিন এবং না’তে রাসুল (সা.) পরিবেশন করেন মোঃ সুমন মিয়া। এ সময় নবীন শিক্ষার্থীদের মাঝ থেকে তাদের অভিব্যক্তি প্রকাশ করেন মনিয়া খান কাশফিয়া (সায়েন্স অ্যান্ড ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং অনুষদ), খালিদ ইকবাল অপি (বিজনেস অনুষদ), জেরীন জান্নাত (লিবারেল আর্টস অ্যান্ড সোশ্যাল সায়েন্সেস অনুষদ), ও কানিজ ফাতেমা (আইন অনুষদ)।

উক্ত অনুষ্ঠানে আরও উপস্থিত ছিলেন ইউআইটিএস-এর সম্মানিত পরীক্ষা নিয়ন্ত্রক অধ্যাপক আ.ন.ম শরীফ, আইন অনুষদের ডিন অধ্যাপক ড. এম. রবিউল হোসেন, বিজনেস অনুষদের ডিন অধ্যাপক ড. ফারুক হোসেন, লিবারেল আর্টস অ্যান্ড সোশ্যাল সায়েন্সস অনুষদের ডিন জনাব সৈয়দা আফসানা ফেরদৌসী, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সকল বিভাগের বিভাগীয় প্রধান, শিক্ষক-শিক্ষার্থী, কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারী-সহ নবীন শিক্ষার্থীবৃন্দ।

অনুষ্ঠানে নবীন শিক্ষার্থীদের ফুল দিয়ে বরণ করা হয় এবং প্রত্যেক অনুষদ থেকে ভর্তি পরীক্ষায় প্রথম স্থান অধিকারীদের (জান্নাতুল ফেরদৌস তানহা, সায়েন্স অ্যান্ড ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং অনুষদ, তাসমিয়া জামান, বিজনেস অনুষদ, জেরীন তাসমিয়া, আইন অনুষদ এবং ঐশি রানী শাহা, লিবারেল আর্টস অ্যান্ড সোশ্যাল সায়েন্সেস অনুষদ) পুরষ্কার ও ক্রেস্ট প্রদান করা হয়।

অনুষ্ঠানের সভাপতি প্রধান অতিথিকে আন্তরিক ধন্যবাদ ও অভিনন্দন জানান। সেই সাথে নবীন শিক্ষার্থীদেরকে স্বাগত ও উপস্থিত সকলকে ধন্যবাদ জানান এবং যারা অনুষ্ঠানটি আয়োজন ও সফল করার জন্য অক্লান্ত পরিশ্রম করেছে তাদের প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞতা জ্ঞাপন করে অনুষ্ঠানের সমাপ্তি ঘোষণা করেন।

𝐀𝐛𝐮 𝐇𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐡𝐮𝐢𝐲𝐚𝐧, the honorable Vice-Chancellor of University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS), attended the national workshop titled “𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡: 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐚𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞," organized by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh.
The day-long workshop was held on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building Auditorium, University of Dhaka. The honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered his address during the inaugural session.
This significant participation reflects UITS’s continued commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and the advancement of higher education in Bangladesh. Arranged by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, the inaugural session was presided over by its Chairman, Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed. Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon and the Prime Minister’s Education Adviser Dr. Mahdi Amin attended the event as special guests. Policymakers, UGC members, vice-chancellors of public and private universities, teachers, researchers, MPs, diplomats, industry representatives, and other stakeholders have taken part in the workshop. Five technical sessions were held following the inaugural ceremony. Discussions were focused on graduate employability, soft skills, and demand-driven education; industry-academia collaboration and global competitiveness; digital transformation, digital literacy, and integration of artificial intelligence; faculty development, research excellence, and internationalization; and governance, quality assurance, and institutional reform. According to the UGC, recommendations from the workshop will help formulate a practical policy roadmap for improving higher education in Bangladesh.

The Hult Prize is more than a competition—it is a global movement empowering student entrepreneurs to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges through impact-driven, for-profit businesses. Since its inception in 2010, it has grown into one of the largest platforms for social entrepreneurship, engaging over 1 million participants from more than 130–150 countries. Through ventures aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, students are encouraged to create innovative solutions that generate measurable social and environmental impact. The highly competitive national event brought together nearly 400 attendees, 16 expert judges, and 55+ elite startups representing over 70 universities across Bangladesh. Following an intense preliminary round across four pitching rooms, the top eight teams advanced to an instant-pitch grand finale. This national competition is a pivotal platform for young Bangladeshi innovators, serving as the selection ground for those who will represent the nation at the prestigious international WICE 2026 event in Malaysia, hosted by the Indonesia Young Scientist Association (IYSA). WICE is a globally recognized stage that brings together bright young minds to showcase groundbreaking ideas across science, technology, engineering, and social innovation. Bangladesh has a remarkable track record at WICE, having proudly secured Gold Medals in the past three years, demonstrating the immense talent and potential of our youth on the international stage. Last year, the nation was further honored with the Best Country Representative Award. UITS IQAC is thrilled announce the following seven teams and their innovative projects:

The top teams emerging from this national round will earn the incredible opportunity to represent Bangladesh at the grand WICE 2026 event in Malaysia. WICE Bangladesh is dedicated to providing comprehensive guidance and support to all selected teams, ensuring they are fully prepared for the final competition. The WICE 2025 competition features both international and national segments, offering a wide array of categories for participants. The International Segments include IT & Robotics, Environmental Science, Innovative Social Science, Applied Physics & Engineering, and Applied Life Science. For the National Segments, participants can compete in the Wall Magazine and Olympiad categories. Within each category, participants are eligible for various awards, including Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals, along with special recognitions such as the Best Country Representative (CR) Award, Best Project Award, DoB Special Award, TA Special Award, and a Participation Award. We wish all participating UITS teams the very best in this exciting competition!
