Dhaka University Rover Scout Group is one of the oldest and most prestigious Rover Scout groups in Bangladesh. It has been playing an important role in the development and expansion of the scout movement in the country. It also has been playing a key role in various disciplinary & voluntary activities of the university. Although this group was established at the beginning of the 1960s, its full ac
tivities started after the 1st investiture ceremony, held in the 1965-66 session. Ramjul Haq participated in the 11th World Scout Jamboree which was held in Greece. Later in 1967, the participation of four Rover Scouts in the 4th Pakistan National Jamboree, held at the campus of University of Karachi, received wide attention and praises by all. For the last 55 years, Dhaka University Rover Scout Group has been participating in various community services and community development activities within the university campus and elsewhere. The group undertook a community development project at Daschira village in Manikganj in the 1970s which was visited by many officials from the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) from its Headquarters in Geneva along with the top leaders of Bangladesh Scouts. Currently, there are seven units, including two Girl-in-Rover units, in the group. At present, there are more than three hundred trained Rover Scouts in these seven units. Till now, 24 Rover Scouts of this group have achieved the prestigious President’s Rover Scout (PRS) Award. Organizational Structure:
