In a remarkable achievement, five distinguished faculty members from the School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE) and the School of Environment and Life Sciences (SELS) at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) have been awarded grants for their outstanding case study research in the field of climate finance. These grants have been granted for two pivotal case study proposals, namely "Financing Transformative Adaptation in Bangladesh (Proposal 1)" and "Evaluating the Effectiveness of Integration of Climate Budgeting and Allocation in Bangladesh (Proposal 2)." This accomplishment represents a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to advancing research and pragmatic solutions in the realm of climate change adaptation finance. It underscores SOAS University of London's acknowledgment of the pressing need for inventive strategies to tackle climate change challenges, particularly in the Global South. These grants are part of the "University Network for Strengthening Macro-financial Resilience to Climate and Environmental Change" initiative, housed within the Centre for Sustainable Finance at SOAS, University of London, UK. The primary goal of this initiative is to explore and devise sustainable financial mechanisms to fortify climate adaptation endeavors in one of the world's most climate-vulnerable regions, Bangladesh.

Leading Proposal 1 is Mr. Md Ekhtekharul Islam, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Science and Management within SELS at IUB. Meanwhile, Proposal 2 is spearheaded by Ms. Zaima Ahmed, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Finance under SBE. Both teams include esteemed members, including Professor Mizan R Khan PhD, Deputy Director of the International Center for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) at IUB; Professor Meherun Ahmed PhD, Dean of SBE; and Dr. Taslim Uddin, Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance at IUB. The development and submission of these proposals were facilitated by the dynamic guidance of Professor Mizan R Khan, Deputy Director of ICCCAD at IUB, and Professor Meherun Ahmed, Dean of SBE at IUB.
These grants from SOAS University of London not only provide invaluable financial support but also underscore the significance and potential impact of our proposals. They will empower our dedicated team of researchers and experts to conduct a comprehensive analysis of existing financial mechanisms and their efficacy in bolstering transformative adaptation initiatives in Bangladesh. Securing these grants from SOAS University of London stands as a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). Furthermore, it reflects our collective commitment to addressing the critical global challenge of climate change. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with SOAS and our partners on this ambitious project.
