The East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) hosted its 141st research seminar on August 20, 2026, at the EWUCRT Seminar Room of East West University. The seminar, titled "Numerical Simulation of Targeted Pulmonary Drug Delivery in Patient-Based Human Lung Models Under Physiological Conditions," was chaired by Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU.

Professor Dr. Md. Sohel Rana, Executive Director of EWUCRT, welcomed attendees and highlighted the center's commitment to impactful research. Dr. Md. Sahidul Islam, Assistant Professor at East West University, presented the research proposals alongside co-researchers Dr. Kazi Ekramul Hoque from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology and Dr. S. M. Afzal Hoq from the International Islamic University, Malaysia.

The RACEWU Blood Donation Campaign 2026, organized by the Rotaract Club of East West University, commenced with a meaningful recognition from Bangladesh Thalassemia Samity, which presented a crest of appreciation to Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Pro Vice-Chancellor, East West University, in recognition of RACEWUโ€™s contribution to blood donation initiatives. With the active participation of EWU students, volunteers, and donors, the campaign successfully collected a meaningful number of blood bags over the two-day initiative. The first day, Rtr. RPh Sanjaya Adhikari, Vice President (ISC), Rotaract Club of Changu, Nepal was welcomed in the campaign whose presence further enriched the occasion.

The campaign featured a blood donation camp alongside a Thalassemia Awareness Seminar, focusing on voluntary blood donation, thalassemia awareness, prevention, and the importance of early screening. The seminar was graced by Sayeed Deedar Bakth, Adviser, Bangladesh Thalassemia Samity, and Dr. M. A. Matin, President, Bangladesh Thalassemia Samity.

The team EWU Innovators, comprising Wahidur Rahman, Maloy Roy Orko, and Suha Islam Methi, all first-semester students of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), East West University (EWU), has achieved the Runner-Up position at the 5th National Research Project Contest 2026, organized by the BUP Research Society.

The achievement is particularly noteworthy as the teamโ€™s project was selected among the Top 45 teams from more than 200 research submissions received from across the country. Competing at the national level, the EWU Innovators demonstrated remarkable research aptitude, creativity, and problem-solving skills despite being students in their very first semester.

Their success highlights the growing culture of research, innovation, and interdisciplinary problem-solving among students at East West University. The achievement also reflects the potential of young CSE students to engage in meaningful research and compete successfully on national platforms from the very beginning of their academic journey.

The students from the Department of Law, East West University attended the Inauguration Ceremony and the first dialogue of the โ€œPolicy Dialogue Series on Gender Equality and Development,โ€ titled โ€œAchieving Gender Equality Before the Law in Bangladesh,โ€ organized jointly by the Centre for Gender and Development Studies (CGDS) of University of Dhaka, UN Women and the European Union. The event was held on Tuesday, 11 August, at the Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Dhaka. This event was attended by students and academics from different institutions.

Seven law students from East West University attended the event, namely Syeda Nabila Haque, Ashes Laskar, Turna Sarwar, Khalid Bin Masud Saikat, Md. East West University (EWU) successfully held its admission test for the Fall Semester 2026 on August 14, 2026, at the EWU Campus in Aftabnagar, Dhaka, accommodating nearly 3,500 applicants. The applicants were seated in classrooms across the EWU Main Building and Farashuddin Bhaban. To ensure a smooth and welcoming experience, EWU made special arrangements for the guardians of the applicants, providing comfortable seating areas and light refreshments on campus.

Prominent university officials, including Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. Anisur Rahman, Proctor & Associate Professor of the Department of CSE, EWU, were present at the university entrance to welcome the students. The university leadership also visited the examination halls to oversee the admission process and expressed their satisfaction with the smooth ex*****on of the test. The success of the event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Admission Committee, Deans, faculty members, proctorial teams, and non-teaching staff.

The Department of Economics at East West University (EWU) and the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership for fostering academic excellence and development research in Bangladesh.

The signing ceremony was held at the Board Room of East West University on 13 August 2026 in Aftabnagar, Dhaka. This agreement provides a formal framework for joint research initiatives, high-level policy dialogues, capacity-building programs, collaborative seminars, and interactive academic exchanges designed to address key economic and social development challenges facing the nation. The MoU was officially signed on behalf of East West University by Dr. Iftekharul Huq, Chairperson of the Department of Economics, and on behalf of the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies by Mr. Subash Chandra Saha, Secretary (acting) of BIDS.
