Udichi (Bengali: উদীচি), or Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi is a leading progressive cultural organization in Bangladesh. It was established by Satyen Sent and some other people on 29 October in 1968 in the wake of the mass uprising against autocracy. t...hroughout the country, turning it into a powerful cultural organisation. After 1972 Udichi branched out into music, drama, dance, fine arts and literature. At present it has a central council comprising 91 members, a district council of forty-one members and a branch council of twenty-five members. There are seventy-one district councils under the Dhaka centre, and 315 branch councils under the district councils.At present the organisation has 10,000+ members. Udichi has staged so many plays, with the majority being street plays. Among its major stage productions are Narak Guljar, Michhil, Dhala Geramer Nam, Abhishapta Nagari, Chirakumar Sabha, Bibaha Utsab, Shubhra Timir and Chile Kothar Sepai, Freedom of the City ,Boubasanti,Half Akhrai. The street plays include Aro Manus Chai, Din Badaler Pala, Raja Raja Khela, Madarir Khel, Tebhagar Pala, Rajakarer Pyanchali, Shadhinatar Sanggram, Ittihas Katha Kao, Punrutthan, Tatal, Bikkhipto Bhabna,Purnima etc. Itihas Katha Kao has been performed more than 1100 times. Udichi has also contributed a lot in field of revolutionary song.Members of Udichi all over the country try to say the organizations views for the mass people through there songs as well as plays. Udichi has five foreign branches (USA, England, Australia, Canada and France).
