In celebration of the World IP Day, the NSUCLR successfully hosted an engaging session, titled, “Intellectual Property in Sports: Exploring Opportunities and Challenges in Bangladesh.”

The session featured distinguished speakers, Ms. Mahua Zahur, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh, and Md. Belal Hossen, Assistant Director (Trademarks, WTO and International Affairs), Ministry of Industries.

The event was graced by Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor, North South University as the Chief Guest, alongside Professor Nasar U. Ahmed, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Professor Rizwanul Islam, Dean, NSUSHSS as Special Guests.

The Department of Law at North South University successfully organized a guest lecture titled “Refugee Law in Practice: Legal Frameworks, Protection, and UNHCR’s Role” on 21st April 2026 at NAC 517.

The lecture was delivered by Saleh Mohammad Shafi, Protection Officer at UNHCR, who shared valuable insights into the practical application of refugee law. Nadine Frisk, Associate Protection Officer at the UNHCR Representation Office in Dhaka, was also present during the lecture.

The session provided students with a platform for academic discussion and learning.

Yeasinur Rahman Durjay , an undergraduate student of the Department of Law, North South University published an article in The Daily Star, titled, “From censorship to chaos, we must steer clear of the extremes of social media" - on 13th April, 2026.

The article highlights how years of strict censorship in Bangladesh suppressed free expression, while the current shift has led to unregulated and chaotic social media discourse.
