Obituary Notice

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our department’s esteemed former teacher, Dr. Mojib Uddin Ahmed, who departed this life today at 5:30 a.m.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un (Indeed, we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return).

We pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, grants him eternal peace, and admits him to Jannatul Ferdous. We extend our deepest condolences to his bereaved family and pray for their strength and patience during this difficult time.

Today, the Department of Accounting, University of Dhaka unveiled its new face, a beautifully and uniquely renovated department, through a meaningful inauguration ceremony followed by a serene Iftar Mahfil. The transformation goes far beyond bricks and walls; it reflects vision, commitment, and an unbreakable bond with the department.

This remarkable renovation stands as a tribute to the BBA 7th Batch, whose sole contribution made this dream a reality. Their dedication was not just financial—it was emotional, personal, and deeply rooted in gratitude. They didn’t just renovate a department; they owned it, nurtured it, and returned their love in the most tangible way possible.

Every corner now tells a story of loyalty. Every detail reflects how profoundly the alumni cherish the place that shaped them. The BBA 7th Batch has shown what it truly means to give back—by honoring their roots and uplifting future generations.

As the call to prayer echoed through the renewed halls during the Iftar Mahfil, it felt like a perfect harmony of past, present, and future. A department reborn. A bond reaffirmed. A legacy secured.

On February 26, 2026, the Department of Accounting, University of Dhaka, formally presented tokens of appreciation to celebrate the promotion of four faculty members to the rank of Professor: Prof. Mr. Al Amin, Prof. Dr. Kawsar Jahan, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Moniruzzaman FCA, FCMA, and Prof. Dr. Md. Jamil Sharif, FCMA.

The tokens were presented by the Chairman of the Department at the beginning of the 166th Academic Committee Meeting, as a gesture of recognition, appreciation, and warm wishes for their continued academic journey and leadership.

A Historic Milestone for the Department of Accounting

The Department of Accounting proudly marks a significant and historic achievement with the formal launch of the Students’ Mentorship Program — an initiative that stands as the first of its kind in our country at the departmental level.

With a vision to bridge academic excellence and professional leadership, our MBA students have been thoughtfully assigned under the guidance of more than 60 highly accomplished mentors, including Managing Directors, Deputy Managing Directors, CEOs, CFOs, professional accountants, government officials, and distinguished leaders from diverse corporate sectors. Their experience, wisdom, and leadership will undoubtedly shape the next generation of accounting professionals.

To ensure the program’s effectiveness and sustainability, a dedicated committee was formed that carefully developed the guidelines, structure, and formal processes of mentorship. Today, the department organized a formal introductory session to connect mentors and mentees, fostering meaningful professional relationships and shared learning.

This initiative reflects our department’s commitment to academic rigor, professional development, and industry engagement. It is not only a program but a legacy-building step toward preparing our students to lead with competence, integrity, and vision.

We express our sincere gratitude to all respected mentors, faculty members, and organizers whose efforts have made this historic contribution possible.
