For 25 years, BRAC University has been committed to nurturing individuals who turn knowledge into meaningful action and create impact beyond borders.

That spirit is reflected in the journey of Mosabbir Hossain, an alumnus of the BRAC University School of Law and one of only nine Chevening Scholars from Bangladesh for the 2026โ€“27 cohort.

Through the UKโ€™s flagship fully funded Chevening Scholarship, Mosabbir will join The University of Manchester to pursue an MSc in International Development, specialising in Public Policy & Management.

A BRACU LL.B. (Hons.) graduate with Distinction, Mosabbir has built a multidisciplinary career across law, public policy, international development and research, including work with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). He has also remained actively engaged with Bangladeshโ€™s mooting community and made history as the first Bangladeshi team representing BRAC University at the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competitionโ€™s White & Case Advanced Rounds.

His Chevening journey marks another step towards advancing his work at the intersection of law, policy and development, with a vision to contribute to sustainable development in South Asia and beyond.

BRAC University hosted Chinese Culture Day 2026, bringing Chinese language and culture to life through vibrant performances, traditional attire, Tai Chi and the beautiful sounds of the Guzheng.
Organised by the BRAC Institute of Languages -BIL in collaboration with the BRAC University Communication and Language Club, the celebration also highlighted the growing academic and cultural ties between Bangladesh and China.

In Sunday Wisdom, we reflect on insights shared by inspiring leaders who engage with the BRAC University community and encourage us to think beyond the challenges of today.

During his lecture at BRAC University, Jerome Oberreit, Executive Director of BRAC Global, spoke about BRACโ€™s distinctive approach to development, humanitarian aid and global solidarity. He highlighted the importance of addressing challenges such as climate change through strategic thinking, innovation and sustainable action.

A Timely Contribution to Bangladeshโ€™s Development and Labour Policy Conversation

BRAC University Professor Farzana Munshiโ€™s new book, The Labour Market in Bangladesh: Emerging Challenges, Future of Work, and Policy Direction, has been published by Routledge.

Why has Bangladeshโ€™s steady economic growth not translated into enough quality jobs? Drawing on extensive national and international data, the book explores this question through some of the countryโ€™s most pressing labour market challengesโ€”from womenโ€™s participation and youth unemployment to migration, child labour, the RMG industry and the future of work.

Its central message is clear: sustainable development requires not just economic growth, but inclusive, employment-generating and skills-intensive growth.

The publication has already received strong endorsements from distinguished economists and development experts from Bangladesh and around the world.
