The orientation ceremony for the 9th batch of Executive MBA students of the Management Department at Dhaka University was held on September 01, 2026, at the Professor Abdullah Farooq Multipurpose Conference Hall. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) of Dhaka University, Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, attended the event as the chief guest.

Presided over by the Executive Coordinator of the Executive MBA Program, Professor Dr. Nadia Nawaz Rimi, the event featured special guest speeches from the Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, Professor Dr. Mahmood Osman Imam; newly appointed Dean Professor Al-Amin; Chairman of the Management Department, Professor Dr. Mohammad Toufiqul Islam; retired Professor Md. Abbas Ali Khan, and Managing Director of Assrotex Group, Mohammad Asadul Islam. Executive MBA program committee member Dr. Kazi Moinuddin Mahmud delivered the vote of thanks, while MBA student Bonhi Shikha Thakur hosted the program.

Congratulating the students, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam remarked that alumni of the Faculty of Business Studies are successfully serving in various professional roles both at home and abroad. He highlighted the rapidly growing influence of Artificial Intelligence in today's workplace, emphasizing that students must acquire skills in AI to keep pace with the evolving times.

Progress Meeting Held for HEAT Sub-Project "Up-Skilling Bangladeshi Talents for Corporate Leadership"

The Department of Management, University of Dhaka, held a progress review meeting on 25 July 2026 for its ongoing research sub-project under the University Grants Commission's Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) Project, Academic Transformation Fund (ATF), Window 3a — "Up-Skilling Bangladeshi Talents for Corporate Leadership: A Sustainable Pathway to Reducing the Dependencies on Top-Tier Inpatriates" (PIN-13001).

The sub-project, led by Dr. Mohammad Abdul Jabber (Sub-Project Manager) with Dr. Shah Ridwan Chowdhury as Assistant Sub-Project Manager, and Md. Razib Hossain and Md. Nazmus Sakib as team members, aims to reduce Bangladeshi corporations' reliance on highly compensated foreign executives by building leadership capacity among indigenous talent. Four Masters scholarship students from the Department from the 26th and 27th batches are also attached to the project as part of its research capacity-building mandate, with Elma Noorain Momo (26th) and Banhyshikha Thakur (27th) presenting the project’s progress to the board.

Presenting to the board, the team reported that three major components of the project's first objective have been completed:

- A systematic literature review of 60 studies, drawn from an initial pool of 183 records identified through Scopus and Google Scholar and narrowed through a structured PRISMA screening process.
- The research methodology for Objective 1 is grounded in the Organization-Task-Person needs-assessment model and Peterson and Van Fleet's ten-skill leadership competency framework.
- A survey instrument covering all ten leadership skill categories, developed from validated sources and prepared for nationwide administration.

With this foundation in place, the project is now positioned to move into its next phase: a nationwide baseline survey of approximately 1,800 incumbent managers across key economic sectors, designed to diagnose leadership skill gaps and inform sector-specific upskilling strategies.

The team also noted that three research papers are currently in preparation based on work completed to date, including a systematic and bibliometric review expected to be submitted within the next three months.

The HEAT/ATF Window 3a initiative supports research led by junior academics in priority national development areas. The Department of Management's sub-project runs from August 2025 to June 2028.

The interactive sessions provided participants with valuable industry insights, practical career guidance, and the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions with experienced professionals.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our respected Chairman Sir for his continuous guidance and support in making this initiative possible. Designed to connect Management students with accomplished alumni from diverse professional sectors, the event creates a platform for meaningful conversations, practical career insights, and informed career decisions.
Through interactive small-group mentoring sessions, participants will have the opportunity to explore different career paths, understand industry expectations, and gain valuable guidance from professionals who have successfully built careers in their respective fields.

The event will feature six parallel mentoring sessions, each dedicated to a different career sector. During registration, participants will select one preferred sector based on their interests. To ensure meaningful interaction and personalized discussions, each session will accommodate 10–15 participants (Small groups) and will run for approximately 90 minutes.

Business Analysis Essentials: Turning Data Into Strategic Decisions.

The ability to convert data into meaningful insights and strategic decisions has become an essential competency for every future business leader. With this vision, the Department of Management, University of Dhaka, organized an engaging and practice-oriented session titled "Business Analysis Essentials: Turning Data Into Strategic Decisions" for the students of Management 28th Batch, Section A.

The session was conducted by Mr. Maskurul Gani
E-Business Operations at TIMG and LET Training- Sydney Academy, which brought business analysis to life through a real-world case from TIMG. Rather than focusing solely on theory, he demonstrated how organizations use business analysis to address challenges, evaluate alternatives, and make strategic decisions in dynamic business environments.

A key highlight of the session was its interactive workshop, where students worked collaboratively to analyze the case, interpret business data, identify critical issues, and propose strategic recommendations. This hands-on approach provided participants with a valuable opportunity to apply classroom concepts to a real organizational context while strengthening their analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
