On 22 April 2026, an inspiring webinar in celebration of the Earth Day titled “Bridging Borders for the Earth: Our Power, Our Planet” was successfully held online.

It was jointly organized by the KOICA, World Friends Korea, KIDC, and BRAC University Environment Club (BUEnC) and C3ER, BRAC University as a Co-organizer.

The session brought together passionate youth from Bangladesh and Korea to address shared environmental challenges. 🇧🇩🇰🇷

During the session, participants engaged in an interactive cross-country discussions, exploring environmental issues across national, institutional, and individual levels. By exchanging real-world case studies from their respective countries, the students collaboratively developed practical "Environmental Action Rules." These youth-led commitments aim to promote zero-waste practices and sustainable habits in daily campus life.

The engaging session successfully inspired attendees to recognise their power as global changemakers, fostering cross-border solidarity and paving the way for future student-led climate initiatives.

Uniting Youth Across Borders for Earth Day 🌍✨

In celebration of Earth Day 2026, a special webinar titled “Bridging Borders for the Earth: Our Power, Our Planet” on 22 April 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM (BST) is being jointly organized by international partners including KOICA, World Friends Korea, KIDC, and BRAC University Environment Club (BUEnC) and co-organizer C3ER, BRAC University, bringing together young changemakers from Bangladesh and beyond.

The session will create a dynamic platform for youth engagement, cross-country dialogue, and collaborative learning, focusing on the shared environmental challenges faced globally. Participants include Korean Volunteers, international and national students from different universities will attend the session and explore real-world issues, exchange ideas, and reflect on everyday practices that impact the environment.

Through interactive discussions, joint presentations, and group activities, the webinar aims to inspire participants to take practical and youth-led climate actions. The session will also encourage participants to develop actionable ideas that can be implemented in their daily lives and communities.

On 17 April 2026, an enriching session on “Environmental Justice, Climate Equity, Gender Justice, and the Role of Youth in Climate Justice” under the International Course on Environmental Science and Climate Action: A Global South Perspective was held online. This session was led by Mr Adv. M. Hafijul Islam Khan, Advocate at the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Founder & Director of the Centre for Climate Justice-Bangladesh (CCJ-B), and Coordinator of the Loss and Damage Team, LDCs Climate Group at UNFCCC. The course is jointly organised by C3ER, BRAC University, Mission Green Bangladesh, CAPS, with support from the Binks Institute for Sustainability of the University of Dundee, Asia Hub of Michigan State University, Nanjing Agricultural University, and Stamford University Bangladesh.

In this session, Mr. Hafijul Islam Khan highlighted the historical responsibility of developed countries in greenhouse gas emissions and the importance of common but differentiated responsibilities (CBDR) for global climate fairness. He discussed procedural justice, public participation, and restorative justice in climate policy, using salinity intrusion in Bangladesh to illustrate the challenges faced by vulnerable communities. The session also covered the role of the International Court of Justice and the key implications of the Paris Agreement and Kyoto Protocol in global climate governance.

The engaging session inspired the attendees to recognise the interconnectedness of legal, environmental, and social dimensions in building a sustainable and just future.

A significant step forward in strengthening climate resilience! 🌿🤝

The Delphi Round 3 under the project “Developing a Framework for Assessing the Effectiveness of Climate Change Adaptation Interventions” was successfully held on 15 April 2026 at the BRAC Head Office, Dhaka. The project is funded and supported by Advocacy for Social Change, BRAC. The session began with registration and lunchtime networking, creating a collaborative environment for meaningful exchange among experts and practitioners working on climate adaptation. The formal proceedings opened with welcome remarks from Mr Mohammad Maruf Hasan, Head of Advocacy for Social Change at BRAC, who set the tone for a constructive, forward-looking discussion.

Emphasising the urgent need to understand what truly works in climate action, Mr Tapas Ranjan Chakraborty, Senior Programme Manager, Climate Change Programme (CCP), BRAC, highlighted the importance of developing a robust Adaptation Effectiveness Framework to guide stronger climate interventions.

Dr Nandan Mukherjee, Senior Lecturer and Director of the Binks Institute for Sustainability at the University of Dundee, and Fellow at C3ER, BRAC University, led the core technical session. He led participatory discussions that helped experts and practitioners refine the revised indicators and sharpen the framework’s objectives.

After the health break, we continued our discussions in depth, bringing together diverse perspectives to ensure the framework is theoretically sound, practical, scalable, and policy-relevant.

The session concluded with closing remarks by Mr Nafiul Hasan, Associate Director, Advocacy for Social Change, BRAC, who emphasised the importance of collective efforts and continued collaboration in advancing effective climate adaptation strategies. Together, these shared insights and commitments help move us closer to a more effective, evidence-informed, and actionable adaptation future. 🌱

✨ Bridging Justice, Equity, and Youth Leadership in Climate Action ✨🌱

The International Course on Environmental Science and Climate Action: A Global South Perspective successfully hosted its 3rd In-Campus session on “Environmental Justice, Climate Equity, Gender Justice, and the Role of Youth in Climate Justice” on 16 April 2026 at Stamford University Bangladesh. The course is jointly offered by the Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER), BRAC University, Mission Green Bangladesh, and the Centre for Atmospheric Pollution Studies (CAPS), with support from the Binks Institute for Sustainability of the University of Dundee, Asia Hub of Michigan State University, Nanjing Agricultural University, and Stamford University Bangladesh. The session brought together distinguished experts, academics, and passionate young minds for a meaningful and timely discussion on the interconnected dimensions of climate justice in the Global South.

The event commenced with insightful opening remarks by Dr Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumder, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Professor in the Department of Environmental Science at Stamford University, Bangladesh. An engaging overview of climate change-related research and Stamford University’s academic contributions to addressing environmental challenges was delivered by Dr Sharif N. As-Saber, Vice Chancellor of Stamford University Bangladesh. The session was further enriched by the thoughtful reflections of Professor Emeritus Dr Feroz Ahmed.

A key highlight of the event was a lecture by Ms Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Chief Executive of the Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA), on “Environmental Justice and Climate Equity.” She shed light on the disproportionate impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities and emphasised the urgent need for legal and policy interventions.

This was followed by Ms Roufa Khanum, Deputy Director, C3ER, BRAC University, who led a compelling session on Gender Justice, highlighting the critical intersections between gender inequality and climate vulnerability, and advocating for more inclusive and equitable climate solutions.

The session on “The Role of Youth in Climate Justice” was delivered by Ms Sadia Jahan Rothi, Environmental Management and Youth Engagement Specialist, C3ER, BRAC University. She emphasised the transformative power of youth in driving climate action and inspired participants to actively engage, collaborate, and take ownership of climate resilience efforts.

The session was moderated by Ms. Sharmin Nahar Nipa, Assistant Director, C3ER, BRAC University.

This in-campus session was a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, critical dialogue, and capacity building, reinforcing the importance of justice-centred climate action and empowering the next generation to lead toward a more sustainable and equitable future. 🌏💚

The International Course on "Environmental Science and Climate Action: A Global South Perspective" successfully inaugurated its first online session on 9 April 2026.

The session featured an engaging lecture on "Climate Science Fundamentals" by Dr. Nandan Mukherjee, Senior Lecturer and Director of the Binks Institute for Sustainability at the University of Dundee.

The session explored the physical basis of climate systems, including atmospheric composition, the role of key greenhouse gases such as CO₂ and CH₄ in driving temperature anomalies, alongside feedback mechanisms like albedo change. Through this session, participants gained a deeper understanding of both anthropogenic drivers and natural variability shaping current and future climate patterns 🌡️📊

The session commenced with opening remarks by Ms. Sharmin Nahar Nipa, Assistant Director, Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER), BRAC University.

Professor Dr. M. Nazrul Islam, Chairman, Department of Geography and Environment and Director, Institute of Remote Sensing and GIS, Jahangirnagar University, delivered an insightful overview of climate change-related research and academic initiatives.

The technical session was conducted by Dr. Md. Anarul Haque Mondol, Associate Professor, Department of Geography & Environment, Jahangirnagar University, focusing on sectoral climate change vulnerabilities and risks.

The course is jointly offered by the Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER), BRAC University, Mission Green Bangladesh, and the Centre for Atmospheric Pollution Studies (CAPS), with support from the Binks Institute for Sustainability of University of Dundee, Asia Hub of Michigan State University, Nanjing Agricultural University, and Stamford University Bangladesh. The programme aims to strengthen both conceptual and practical knowledge of climate science, promote evidence-based solutions, and foster global collaboration.

The official launching ceremony of the "International course Environmental Science and Climate Action: A Global South Perspective" was successfully held on 02 April 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Vice Chancellor Conference Room, BRAC University 🏫.

This course is jointly organized by the Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER), BRAC University, Mission Green Bangladesh, and Center for Atmospheric Pollution Studies (CAPS), with support from the Binks Institute for Sustainability,, University of Dundee 🇬🇧, Asia Hub, Michigan State University 🇺🇸, Nanjing Agricultural University 🇨🇳, and Stamford University Bangladesh 🇧🇩.
