A distinguished delegation of 20 faculty members from the Department of Civil Engineering, led by the Honourable Chairman, S. M. Sazzad Ahmed Shobon Sir, paid an academic and industrial visit to Max Industries Limited today.

The programme commenced with an illuminating presentation by the renowned academic and industry expert, Prof. Dr. Raquib Ahsan of BUET. During the session, he elaborated on the remarkable advantages, engineering performance, environmental benefits, and diverse applications of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) blocks in contemporary construction. His presentation offered valuable insights into how AAC can contribute to lightweight, energy-efficient, and sustainable building practices.

Following the presentation, an engaging and intellectually stimulating discussion was held on the sustainable utilization of AAC, its potential as an alternative to conventional bricks, and the future scope of innovation, recycling, and durability-focused research in this field.

The faculty members were subsequently escorted on a comprehensive tour of the production facility, where they had the opportunity to observe the entire manufacturing process of AAC blocks. The visit provided practical exposure to raw material preparation, production technology, quality-control procedures, and the overall operational framework of the factory.

The concluding session featured an extensive and forward-looking dialogue on strengthening collaboration between academia and industry. Key areas of discussion included joint research initiatives, internship and employment opportunities for students, professional knowledge exchange, and the invitation of representatives from Max Industries Limited to join the Department’s Industry Advisory Board. Such engagement would play a significant role in upgrading the curriculum and aligning academic programmes with contemporary industry requirements. Encouragingly, both parties expressed strong interest and a positive commitment toward establishing a sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership.

Max Industries Limited was represented by its esteemed Chief Marketing Officer, Assistant General Manager, and Technical Head, whose valuable contributions and professional perspectives greatly enriched the programme.

The entire event was meticulously coordinated by Mr. Mahedi, a proud alumnus of the Department of Civil Engineering at Dhaka International University, in collaboration with the Honourable Chairman of the Department.

Overall, the visit marked a meaningful step toward bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industrial practice. It created promising avenues for collaborative research, curriculum development, professional networking, student career advancement, and the promotion of innovative and sustainable construction technologies.

The D-16 (Adommo 16) Batch of the Civil Engineering Department, Dhaka International University, recently embarked on a memorable and enriching 4-day, 3-night Rag Tour to the coastal region of Bangladesh. The tour was carefully designed to combine academic exposure, recreational activities, and team-building experiences, providing students with an opportunity to learn beyond the classroom while strengthening their interpersonal relationships.

The tour was conducted under the guidance and supervision of S M Sazzad Ahmed Shovon, Assistant Professor & Chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering, and Abhijit Debnath Abhi, Lecturer of the department. Their presence ensured the smooth ex*****on of the program and contributed significantly to making the tour both educational and enjoyable for the students.

During the tour, participants explored some of the most prominent attractions of the southeastern region of Bangladesh, including Cox's Bazar, home to the world's longest natural sea beach, Teknaf, the southernmost part of mainland Bangladesh, and the breathtaking Marine Drive, renowned for its spectacular views of the Bay of Bengal and the surrounding hills. These visits allowed students to experience the natural beauty, cultural diversity, and geographical significance of the region while enjoying a refreshing break from their academic routine.

One of the most significant components of the tour was the Industrial Visit to the Rejukhal Bridge Project, Cox’s Bazar. As future civil engineers, the students were given the opportunity to observe large-scale infrastructure development firsthand. The visit provided valuable insights into bridge construction techniques, structural components, site management practices, quality control measures, and the practical challenges associated with executing major engineering projects. Through direct interaction with project personnel and on-site observations, students gained a deeper understanding of how theoretical concepts learned in the classroom are applied in real-world engineering environments.

Beyond its academic significance, the tour served as an important platform for fostering teamwork, leadership, communication, and collaboration among students. Various group activities and shared experiences throughout the journey strengthened the sense of unity and camaraderie within the batch. The tour also enabled students to interact with faculty members in an informal setting, creating stronger academic and professional relationships.
