A vibrant and festive 'Freshers Reception Program-2026' was held to welcome the newly enrolled undergraduate students of the DSE-03 Batch under the Department of Data Science and Engineering for the academic session 2025-26 at the University of Frontier Technology, Bangladesh (UFTB).

The orientation program was organized by the department on Saturday (July 18, 2026) at the university campus in Kaliakair, Gazipur.

The Honorable Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered a guidance speech to the freshers. The program was presided over by Md. Abul Ala Walid, the esteemed Chairman of the Department of Data Science and Engineering.

In his address, the Chief Guest, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf, congratulated the new students of the DSE-03 Batch and emphasized the role of the youth in nation-building, stating, "The new generation must propel the country forward through rigorous perseverance, dedication, and cutting-edge research."

During the session, the faculty members of the department provided the new students with a detailed overview of the university's academic curriculum, laboratory facilities, and institutional rules and regulations.

The day-long orientation program was attended by hall provosts, the proctor, the director of student welfare, faculty members, students, and officials of the university.

Grand Inauguration of the State of the Art Deep Learning Lab at UFTB

The University of Frontier Technology, Bangladesh (UFTB) has officially launched its cutting-edge Deep Learning Lab, marking a new milestone in artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technology research. The inauguration ceremony took place on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Room 1002 of Academic Building-2, in a vibrant and celebratory event.

Established under the initiative of the Department of Data Science and Engineering, the modern facility is designed to empower students and researchers in the fields of AI, machine learning, and deep learning, fostering innovation and groundbreaking research.

The lab was formally inaugurated by Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of UFTB, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Yusuf emphasized:
“This Deep Learning Lab will play a pivotal role in preparing our students as globally competitive professionals in data science and artificial intelligence. It will not only strengthen their theoretical knowledge but also provide hands-on opportunities for research and innovation, enabling them to meet the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Md. Abul Ala Walid, Chairman of the Department of Data Science and Engineering. In his remarks, he highlighted the lab’s future roadmap and potential, expressing gratitude to the university administration for their continuous support in modernizing research infrastructure and enhancing the academic environment.

The event was attended by heads of various departments, faculty members, and students, reflecting the collective enthusiasm and commitment of the university community toward advancing technological research and innovation.

UFTB Team to Participate in Inter-University Carrom Tournament. Among the 6 participants, 5 are students from the Data Science and Engineering, UFTB . Best of luck to you all!

The "Bangladesh Inter-University Carrom (Boys & Girls) Tournament 2026" is scheduled to be held from June 19, 2026, to June 21, 2026, at the National University in Gazipur. A strong carrom team from the University of Frontier Technology, Bangladesh - UFTB is set to participate in this prestigious national-level sports event.

On the occasion of their participation, a delegation comprising the players, coach, and manager of the UFTB carrom team paid a courtesy call on the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf. During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor extended his best wishes to the players and urged them to uphold the reputation of the university through their talent, skill, and sportsman spirit.

The UFTB carrom team participating in the tournament consists of 6 members, including 4 male and 2 female students. The team is under the overall management of Mr. Md. Sharad Hasan, Director (Student Welfare), and is coached by Mr. S.M. Rajib Hossain, Advisor of the UFTB Sports Club.
