The Department of Sociology, Green University of Bangladesh, successfully organized the seminar “Sustainable Solution in Salinity-Affected Rural Bangladesh: Learning from a Clean Water Intervention Project” on 22 December 2025.

"পথ শিশুদের সাথে আনন্দ আহার"

আজ সকালটা যেন মানবতার এক নিঃশব্দ কবিতা হয়ে নেমে এসেছিল।

ভোরের বাতাসে একটু আশার গন্ধ নিয়ে আমরা যখন বেরিয়েছিলাম ঠিক ৮:৪০-এ, তখনও জানতাম না আজকের দিনটা এত শিশু-হাসিতে, এত গল্পে, এত আলোয় ভরে উঠবে।

মতিঝিল পৌঁছে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীরা আর পথশিশুরা মিলে সাজিয়ে তুলল ছোট্ট এক পৃথিবী,
যেখানে পরিচয়ের দেয়াল ভেঙে
হাসি বসে পাশে,
গান মিশে হাততালিতে,
স্বপ্ন জ্বলে ওঠে চোখের তারায়।
কেউ বলল ডাক্তার হবে,
কেউ পুলিশ,
কেউ শুধু বলল “একদিন ভাল মানুষ হবো।”

আর আমরা নিঃশব্দে শুনেছি তাদের সংগ্রামের গল্প,
তাদের ছোট্ট বুকের সাহস,
তাদের ভরসা হয়ে ওঠা দিনের স্বপ্ন।

টি-শার্ট, সকালের নাস্তা, খেলা, আঁকিবুঁকি, আর দুপুরের পুষ্টিকর খাবার,
সবকিছুর মধ্যেই লুকিয়ে ছিল একটা বড় কথা: ভালোবাসা দিলে মানুষ বদলে যায়।

শেষে যখন পুরস্কার, ছবি আর হাসিতে দিনটা শেষ হলো,
তখন মনে হলো,
আজকের সূর্যটা একটু বেশি আলো নিয়ে ডুবল,
কারণ আমরা সবাই মিলে ছোট ছোট হৃদয়ে জ্বালাতে পেরেছি এক মুঠো উষ্ণতা।

✨ মানবতার এমন মুহূর্তগুলোই প্রমাণ দুনিয়া এখনো সুন্দর হতে চায়।

🎉 Congratulations to our brilliant sociology students for their outstanding participation in the 4th International Conference on Innovation & Transformation for Development (ITD-2025) organized by Green University of Bangladesh! From November 27-28, 2025, at the university campus in Purbachal American City, Kanchan, Narayanganj, a total of 7 research papers were presented by our talented students, covering diverse topics— from circular economy and urban transport to digital awareness, gendered labor, and climate resilience. Special appreciation goes to Md. Samiul Islam (Asst. Professor) for his exclusive guidance and mentoring of all seven research projects, whose dedication and expertise have been instrumental in shaping these successful outcomes. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗮𝘁 𝗭𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸

As part of the Sociology of Environment and Disaster course, students from the 232 batch of the Department of Sociology, Green University of Bangladesh, conducted a field visit to Zinda Park, Rupganj, on 29 November, 2025 under the supervision of course teacher Azmera Sultana, Lecturer, along with Esfaara Mim, Lecturer, and Mohammad Nasim Uddin, Lecturer, Department of Sociology.

The program, organized in collaboration with IQAC and aligned with SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, focused on observing and evaluating the park’s water management, sanitation systems, and Eco-friendly practices.

The insights gained aim to enhance students’ understanding and promote sustainable water and sanitation practices within the community.

The Department of Sociology, in collaboration with the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Green University of Bangladesh, successfully organized a community engagement and experiential learning initiative titled “Learning Mental Health Care at Kkottongnae House of Hope.” Held on 29 November 2025, the program provided students with meaningful exposure to real-life caregiving environments and deepened their understanding of mental health and disability support.

Kkottongnae House of Hope in Gazipur, operated by the Kkottongnae Sisters of Jesus, has long served vulnerable groups by offering long-term care, shelter, and rehabilitation, including support for more than 30 individuals with mental health challenges. During the visit, students observed caregiving practices, interacted with residents, and gained hands-on learning experiences that nurtured empathy, communication skills, and social responsibility.

This initiative contributed significantly to several key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 2: Zero Hunger, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, by promoting mental health awareness, inclusive learning, and community support. Through this program, the Department of Sociology strengthened students’ academic foundations and fostered a more compassionate and socially conscious outlook.

𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐥

The Department of Sociology, Green University of Bangladesh, successfully organized a two day-long community outreach program titled “Climate Change, Tea Plantations and Labor Vulnerability” at Sreemangal, Moulvibazar, aligned with the goals of SDG 13: Climate Action.

Students of Batch 231 participated in this insightful field visit under the supervision of Samiul Islam, Assistant Professor, and Humayun Kabir, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, GUB.

The trip offered students a unique blend of experiential learning, environmental understanding, and community engagement—enhancing their academic journey beyond the classroom.
