Workshop on “Preparation for Accreditation” Organized by the Department of Arabic, Rajshahi University
It is a great pleasure to share that a day-long workshop titled “Preparation for Accreditation,” organized by the Department of Arabic, University of Rajshahi. The workshop took place on April 28, 2026, at Room No. 306 of the Shahidullah Arts Building, University of Rajshahi.
The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Jahidul Islam, Chairman of the Department of Arabic and President of the Program Self-Assessment Committee (PSAC). Professor Dr. Muhammad Belal Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Professor Dr. Md. Abu Reza, Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), attended as the Guest of Honour. The event also featured Special Guests, including the Registrar of Rajshahi University, Professor Dr. Iftikharul Alam Masud, and IQAC Additional Directors Professor Dr. Md. Monimul Haque and Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin.
The program commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur'an. During the opening session, Dr. S. M. Abdus Salam, a senior professor of the Department, delivered the welcome address. In his speech, he remarked: "Achieving accreditation is essential to ensure international standards of education. This timely initiative by the Arabic Department will propel us one step further toward academic excellence." The speakers expressed their optimism that such workshops would play a vital role in enhancing the quality of university education, adhering to international benchmarks, and accelerating the accreditation process.
The Technical Sessions focused on specialized topics, including accreditation preparation, BAC Standards and Criteria for Program Offering Entities (POE), and the significance of academic program accreditation in higher education. Throughout various sessions, speakers emphasized Outcome-Based Education (OBE), quality question paper formulation, preparing assessments according to Bloom’s Taxonomy, and the necessity of CLO Mapping.
Professor Dr. Md. Monimul Haque presented the keynote on “Preparation for Accreditation,” while Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin discussed “Key BAC Standards and Criteria for Program Offering Entities (POE).” In addition, Dr. Md. Nizam Uddin, honorable member of the PSAC and Professor of the Department of Arabic, delivered a presentation on “Significance of Academic Program Accreditation in the Department of Arabic.” The final segment of the workshop featured a group discussion on Bloom’s Taxonomy and CLO Mapping-based question preparation, conducted by Dr. Md. Setaur Rahman, Professor, Department of Arabic, Rajshahi University.
The participating faculty members described the workshop as timely and highly productive. They mentioned that through the workshop they were able to acquire broader and more effective knowledge regarding Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Bloom’s Taxonomy, CLO Mapping, and modern question-setting techniques. They highlighted that the various sessions provided them with new perspectives and greater confidence in teaching methods, lesson planning, and student-centered learning activities.
Furthermore, the teachers mentioned that they are now better equipped to conduct academic activities with greater skill, aligning question papers with international standards and specific Learning Outcomes. They expressed their gratitude to the organizing committee, particularly the Program Self-Assessment Committee (PSAC) and IQAC, for such an initiative. They also urged the university administration to organize more training workshops and seminars in the future to continuously update faculty skills and enhance the overall quality of higher education.
The workshop was attended by all faculty members of the Department of Arabic and concluded with a vote of thanks to the participants.
