The purpose of this department is to build engineers who can use the modern technologies and play important role in building modern civilizations and providing latest knowledge of various mechanical engineering fields. Mechanical Engineers have outstanding achievements in various fields for improving and modifying mechanical design and providing strong leadership. BAUST is a place of opportunity where discipline, morality, growth, creativity, and strong leadership are encouraged and rewarded. The ME programs are extensively laboratory oriented. The practical and hands-on laboratory experiences begin from the very first year and are also integral to the academic programs. The department is equipped with a number of modern laboratories for undergraduate studies and works such as Thermodynamics Lab, CAD and Simulation Lab, Strength of Materials Lab, Materials and Metallurgy Lab, Mechanics of Materials Lab, Heat Transfer Lab, Instrumentation and Measurement Lab, Fluid Mechanics and Machinery Lab, Heat Engine and Automobile Lab, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Lab, Machine Shop and Production Process Lab, Welding Shop, Foundry Shop and Drawing Lab. The Faculty members of the Department are active in research and developments in the core and applied fields of Mechanical Engineering. The students of the Mechanical Engineering Department thus have a gateway to the world of engineering research with hands-on training from the esteemed Faculty members.
