KYAU Participates in BDREN-CUP Collaboration Event to Strengthen Global Research and Knowledge Access

Dhaka, July 22, 2026: Representatives from Khwaja Yunus Ali University (KYAU) participated in the prestigious event titled “BDREN-CUP Collaboration: Towards Global Knowledge”, held at the Sheraton Hotel, Dhaka. The program brought together leaders from universities, the University Grants Commission (UGC), The Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) Project, Cambridge University Press (CUP), and the Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BDREN) to strengthen research collaboration, scholarly publishing, and access to digital academic resources.
The KYAU delegation was led by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Asraf Ali, accompanied by Professor Dr. Mostofa Mahmud Hasan, Director of IQAC, and Mr. Md. Shahinur Rahman, University Librarian.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including the Chairman of UGC, the Chairman of BDREN, the Director of the HIT Project, and the Head of South Asia Publishing at Cambridge University Press. Discussions focused on enhancing institutional collaboration to improve research capacity, academic publishing, and access to global e-resources for universities across Bangladesh.
A key highlight of the event was a presentation by Professor Dr. Mostafa Mahmud Hasan, Director of IQAC, on “Open Access: Myth vs. Reality.” He discussed the significance of open access in higher education and research, addressing common misconceptions while emphasizing its role in expanding scholarly communication and knowledge dissemination. He also highlighted Khwaja Yunus Ali University's continued commitment to promoting quality education and research through institutional support, research grants, and initiatives aimed at strengthening academic excellence.
KYAU's participation in this national collaboration reflects the University's ongoing commitment to advancing research, fostering international partnerships, and expanding access to global knowledge resources for its academic community.

IQAC Strengthens Academic Excellence Through a Two-Day Faculty Development Workshop

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Khwaja Yunus Ali University (KYAU) successfully organized a two-day Faculty Development Workshop (FDW) titled "Shaping Scholars, Shaping Futures" on 29–30 June 2026 at the University Conference Room (R-211).
The workshop brought together 44 newly appointed faculty members from the University's three faculties. It was designed to equip participants with contemporary knowledge and practical skills in modern pedagogical approaches, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs), Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs), Bloom's Taxonomy, curriculum development, curriculum mapping, assessment methodologies, research philosophy, and institutional quality assurance.
One of the highlights of the workshop was the session titled "Teaching and Research Philosophy" conducted by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Asraf Ali. He emphasized the importance of student-centered education, innovative teaching strategies, active classroom engagement, and research-based instruction. He also encouraged faculty members to exchange experiences and adopt best practices to create an effective teaching-learning environment in higher education.
In the session on "Ethics and Integrity in Teaching," Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahed Akond discussed the significance of academic integrity, professional ethics, and transparency in higher education. Drawing on practical experiences and interactive discussions, he highlighted the crucial role of teachers in promoting ethical values both inside the classroom and across the institution.
Another major attraction of the workshop was the participation of Professor Dr. Feroz Ahmed, Treasurer of Rabindra University, Bangladesh, who facilitated two important sessions entitled "Effective Teaching & Learning" and "Assessment Methodologies." His presentations focused on student-centered pedagogy, constructive alignment, and effective assessment strategies for improving student learning outcomes. Through practical examples, he explained the importance of outcome-based teaching and assessment in contemporary higher education. The lively question-and-answer session that followed encouraged participants to adopt innovative teaching practices in their own classrooms.
The keynote presentation on the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF) was delivered by Professor Dr. Mostofa Mahmud Hasan, Director of IQAC. He highlighted the importance of BNQF in ensuring quality higher education and supporting Outcome-Based Education.
On the second day, Professor Hasan conducted a series of comprehensive sessions on KPI & Employee Evaluation, OBE-based Curriculum Development, the alignment of Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs) and Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs), Curriculum Mapping, and Outcome-Based Assessment. Through practical examples, group exercises, and interactive discussions, he demonstrated effective approaches to curriculum planning, assessment strategies, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI). His informative and engaging presentations generated significant interest among the participants regarding the practical implementation of outcome-based education.
Professor Dr. Hossain Reza conducted a session on "Conducting Action Research," highlighting the importance of classroom-based research in continuously improving teaching practices and enriching students' learning experiences.
In another engaging session, Professor Dr. Fazle Rabbi Shakil Ahmed, Additional Director (ETL), IQAC, facilitated "Conducting Extra and Co-curricular Activities." He emphasized the role of co-curricular and extracurricular activities in developing students' leadership, teamwork, communication skills, creativity, and social responsibility. During the session, faculty members from the three faculties were divided into groups to participate in a collaborative survey exercise, which produced approximately 60% positive outcomes, reflecting the participants' active engagement and shared perspectives.
The University's Proctor, Professor Dr. Ranajit Kumar Shaha, delivered an important session on the Institutional Code of Conduct, academic integrity, professional ethics, and plagiarism prevention. His presentation reinforced the University's strong commitment to maintaining high ethical and academic standards.
The workshop also featured several experienced resource persons who conducted informative sessions on Rubrics for Assessment, Preparing Lesson Plans, Course Evaluation and Peer Review, Student Advising and Counseling, Examination-related Activities, Office Management, and IT Adaptation in KYAU. These sessions provided practical insights into effective teaching methodologies, fair assessment systems, student support services, examination management, administrative efficiency, and the effective use of information technology. Participants highly appreciated the relevance and practicality of these sessions and acknowledged their value in enhancing their professional competencies and day-to-day academic responsibilities.
The closing session of the workshop included group presentations, peer reflections, certificate distribution, and a formal closing ceremony. During the concluding discussions, participants recommended several initiatives, including updating curricula in line with Outcome-Based Education, strengthening assessment systems, expanding the use of the Learning Management System (LMS), promoting academic integrity, and establishing an integrated resource repository to support continuous faculty development.
The participants expressed their sincere appreciation for the workshop's content, the expertise of the resource persons, the quality of the overall organization, and the hands-on learning opportunities provided throughout the programme. They particularly valued the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with colleagues from different faculties, which fostered collaborative learning and professional networking.
The successful completion of this Faculty Development Workshop marks another significant milestone in IQAC's continuous efforts to foster a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous improvement at Khwaja Yunus Ali University. By strengthening the professional competencies of its faculty members, the University has taken another important step toward achieving academic excellence, enriching students' learning experiences, and establishing itself as a center of excellence in higher education.
The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates among all participants, followed by a commemorative group photograph in front of the University's Academic Building, marking the successful conclusion of the two-day Faculty Development Workshop.

শিক্ষার্থীদের মাঝে বিজ্ঞানভিত্তিক জ্ঞানের উৎকর্ষ সাধন এবং নতুন উদ্ভাবনী শক্তির দিক উন্মোচন করতে সিরাজগঞ্জের এনায়েতপুরে অবস্থিত খাজা ইউনুস আলী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে জাতীয় সায়েন্স এন্ড ফিকশন ফেয়ার অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।

ট্রিপলি বিভাগের আয়োজনে মঙ্গলবার দেশের স্বনামধন্য ১৫টি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এবং সাতটি কলেজের প্রায় চার শতাধিক শিক্ষার্থী বিভিন্ন প্রতিযোগিতায় অংশগ্রহন করেন। দিনভর বর্ণাঢ্য এ আয়োজন চলে একাডেমিক ভবনের হলরুমে।

অনুষ্ঠানে সভাপতিত্ব করেন বিজ্ঞান ও প্রকৌশল অনুষদের ডীন প্রফেসর ড. শাহেদ আকন্দ। অতিথি হিসেবে বক্তব্য রাখেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ডঃ আশরাফ আলী, প্রফেসর এমিরেটাস এন্ড এডভাইজার ডক্টর হোসেন রেজা ও আইকিউএসি'র ডিরেক্টর প্রফেসর ডঃ মোস্তফা মাহমুদ হাসান প্রমুখ।

এদিকে অনুষ্ঠান শেষে বিজয়ী ও অংশ গ্রহনকারী শিক্ষার্থীদের সনদ, নগদ অর্থ ও ক্রেষ্ট তুলে দেয়া হয়।
