The Department of Business Administration of successfully organised a comprehensive two-day workshop titled “Business Research Excellence” at the NEUB Auditorium on 12–13 May 2026. The workshop aimed to enhance students’ research, academic writing, and analytical skills through practical and interactive learning sessions.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Ms. Rebeka Sultana Chowdhury, Dean, School of Business and Head of the Department of Business Administration. In her inspiring speech, she highlighted the growing importance of research skills in students’ academic and professional lives. She encouraged students to develop strong analytical abilities, proper academic writing practices, and critical thinking skills, emphasizing that such competencies are essential for higher studies, research publications, and future career success. She also appreciated the initiative for creating a practical learning environment beyond regular classroom activities.
The first session of the workshop was held on 12 May 2026 and was conducted by Ms. Fathema Rashid Saba, Assistant Professor of the department, on the topic “Academic Report Writing.” During the session, she provided students with a complete formal guideline on how to prepare and structure an academic report effectively. The session covered important aspects including report formatting, literature review writing, referencing techniques, citation styles, and common mistakes in academic writing. Through detailed discussions and practical examples, students gained a clearer understanding of how to present research work in a professional and academically accepted manner.
The second session was held on 13 May 2026 and was conducted by Ms. Ishrat Sharmin, Assistant Professor of the department, on “Data Analysis with SPSS.” The session offered a hands-on learning experience where students were introduced to the practical use of SPSS software for research and survey analysis. Students learned how to input and manage data, design questionnaires, perform basic to intermediate statistical analyses, interpret outputs, and conclude the findings section of an academic report. The interactive nature of the session helped participants develop confidence in applying data analysis techniques in their own academic and research work.
More than 60 students actively participated in the two-day workshop and remained highly attentive and engaged throughout the programme, reflecting their enthusiasm for developing research-oriented skills.
The event was hosted by Md. Tahsenur Rahman Akash, Lecturer of the department, and coordinated by Md. Amir Hushen, Assistant Professor of the department. The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates among the participants, marking the successful completion of an enriching and impactful learning experience for the students.
