Op dinsdag 26 mei vond de Dag van de Sociologie plaats. Dit jaar georganiseerd aan de UAntwerpen. De Dag van de Sociologie ging van start met een openingslezing door Lisa Suckert, over hoe oorlog ondergerepresenteerd is in sociologisch onderzoek. Hierna werd de Vlaamse Scriptieprijs Sociologie uitgereikt. Deze prijs beloont een masterproef sociologie die het voorbije academiejaar een betekenisvolle bijdrage leverde aan sociologisch onderzoek en werd dit jaar uitgereikt aan Luna Verdickt. Zij onderzocht de relatie tussen werkzoekstrategieën van immigranten in Vlaanderen en het vinden van geschikte tewerkstelling. Vervolgens konden deelnemers verschillende sessies bijwonen rond o.a. Education: Inclusion & Diversity, Youth, Family Sociology: Reproduction, Zorg & Gezondheid, en Political Sociology. De dag werd afgesloten met een gezellige receptie waar deelnemers nog wat konden napraten bij een hapje en een drankje.

On Tuesday 26 May, the Day of Sociology took place. This year it was organised at the University of Antwerp. The Day of Sociology kicked off with an opening lecture by Lisa Suckert on how war is under-represented in sociological research. This was followed by the award ceremony for the Flemish Sociology Thesis Award. This prize recognises a Master’s thesis in sociology that made a significant contribution to sociological research during the past academic year and was awarded this year to Luna Verdickt. She investigated the relationship between job-seeking strategies of immigrants in Flanders and finding suitable employment. Participants were then able to attend various sessions on topics including Education: Inclusion & Diversity, Youth, Family Sociology: Reproduction, Care & Health, and Political Sociology. The day ended with a lovely reception where participants could have a chat and enjoy some snacks and drinks.
