AI & Competition Law: join us on 24 November in Brussels

AI is entering our daily lives and making us more efficient in the office. But it also raises new regulatory and competition law questions.

On 24 November 2026, the Brussels Study Center (BSC) and the Association belge pour l'étude du droit de la concurrence (AEDC) bring together speakers from private practice and the European Commission to review the main competition law issues prompted by AI:

🔹 Restrictive agreements with Anne Vallery (WilmerHale)
🔹 Abuse of dominance with Thomas Graf (Kirkland & Ellis)
🔹 The Digital Markets Act with Amaryllis Müller (Cleary Gottlieb)
🔹 The EU's AI regulatory matrix with Alfonso Lamadrid (Latham & Watkins)

With an introduction by Filomena Chirico (DG CONNECT) and a conclusion by Yves-Alexandre de Montjoye (European Commission, DG COMP), followed by drinks.

The new academic year of the Executive Master in Law & AI at the BSC begins 16 October 2026, and applications close on the same day.

Why join the Executive Master in Law & AI?

🧠 25 modules, four blocks. AI fundamentals, the law of AI, AI in practice and a vertical block on mobility, healthcare, finance, insurance, standardisation and legal services.

👥 Faculty from both sides of the field. Academics from ULiège, EUI, KU Leuven, Tilburg and beyond, alongside practitioners and officials from the European Commission, the OECD, Microsoft and leading law firms.

💻 Fully flexible. Friday mornings, 9.00 to 12.30, in central Brussels or remotely via our platform. Every session is recorded.

🎓 An Executive Master diploma issued by the University of Liège, worth 20 ECTS credits. Individual modules are also available if you want to target specific topics.

Launched in 2017, the programme is built for legal professionals, in-house counsel, policy-makers and industry leaders who need to engage with AI critically rather than superficially.

📚 We kick off with Ethics and AI, taught by Ljupjo Grozdanovski (Research Associate at the FNRS) and Mona Caroline Chammas (Founder of Govern & Law). From the main ethical theories to the EU's Ethics Guidelines for Trustworthy AI, the session looks at how ethical principles turn into policy and law. It's the right place to start before diving into the rules themselves.

The opening module, General Introduction to Competition Law & Economics, will be taught by Nicolas Petit (European University Institute) and Benoit Durand (RBB Economics), providing an introduction to the legal and economic foundations of the field.
